NBA DraftKings & FanDuel DFS Primer: Tuesday (4/5)

How strange is it to have an off day in the final week of the season? That’s what we had on Monday, with the NCAA Championship on full display. That does leave us with a monster card here, though, so let’s go ahead and get into it!

We had 12 games on Sunday, and we’re back with another 12-game card here. That means we have 24 rotations we need to break down, which will be chaotic with so many crazy things happening in this final week of the season. There’s inevitably going to be some value opening up closer to tip, so be sure to keep an eye on our injury reports and news updates!

Injury Report

Core Plays

Joel Embiid (C – PHI): $12,000 DraftKings, $11,600 FanDuel
With Embiid and Jokic battling for MVP, these guys should go crazy this final week. Embiid has been doing that all season, averaging 57 DraftKings points per game. He’s been even more ridiculous recently, scoring at least 56 DK points in five straight fixtures en route to a 66-point average. That makes Embiid worth it no matter how expensive he is, and we’re certainly not worried about him facing a 25th-ranked Indiana defense.

Jimmy Butler (SF – MIA): $8,400 DraftKings, $7,600 FanDuel
Miami is trying to secure the top seed in the east. That will have Jimmy more motivated than ever, scoring at least 42 fantasy points in three of his last five games. The thing we love here is this matchup, with Charlotte owning a 29th OPRK against opposing wings. That’s no surprise when you see that the Hornets rank third in pace and 26th in points allowed. In their three meetings this season, JB is averaging 48 DK points per game!

Brandon Ingram (SF – NOP): $8,000 DraftKings, $8,600 FanDuel
Ingram has been balling out without Zion, leading the Pelicans with 40 DK points per game. What’s impressive is his playmaking, leading the team in assists. That has led to BI scoring at least 37 DraftKings points in eight of his last nine games. That should be easy to duplicate against the Kings, with Sacramento sitting 29th in points allowed and 27th in defensive efficiency. Not to mention, he’s averaging 27.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 6.0 assists against them this year.

Cash Game Considerations

Nikola Jokic (C – DEN): $12.500 DraftKings, $12,000 FanDuel
I reiterate these stats on every Jokic slate, and it’s easy to understand why. The big man is now leading the NBA with over 61 DK points per game, scoring at least 41 fantasy points in 71 of 72 games this season. That is so absurd that it doesn’t make sense, and it should continue against a Spurs team that ranks 24th in total defense and fourth in pace.

Kevin Durant (PF – BKN): $11.600 DraftKings, $11,200 FanDuel
KD is on another level right now, and he should slice through the Rockets like a hot knife through butter. The Slim Reaper has scored at least 52 DK points in seven of his last eight games, scoring 72 or more in two of his previous three. That’s horrifying for Houston, with the Rockets ranked second in pace, 29th in defensive efficacy, and last in points allowed.

Deandre Ayton (C – PHX): $7,100 DraftKings, $6,500 FanDuel
This pricing makes no sense. DA has scored at least 34 DraftKings points in nine of his last 12 games, posting a 35-point average for the season. That alone makes him a good value around $7,000, especially since he has one of the best matchups possible. LA ranks 23rd in defensive efficiency, 26th in points allowed, and fifth in pace. Ayton has killed them all year, too, averaging 42 DK points per game in their three matchups.

GPP Targets

Andre Drummond (C – BKN): $6,800 DraftKings, $6,700 FanDuel
Dre is always one of the best GPP plays out there, averaging 1.3 DK points per minute. It’s always a matter of playing time when it comes to Drummond, but he’s regularly playing 25-30 minutes a night. Over his last 12 games played, Drum is averaging 32 DK points per game across 24 minutes a night. That looks even better here, with Houston surrendering the most fantasy points to opposing centers this season.

D’Angelo Russell (PG – MIN): $6,400 DraftKings, $5,300 FanDuel
This FanDuel price is laughable. D-Lo is averaging 36 fantasy points per game for the season, which is more indicative of a $7K player. It’s not like he’s been terrible recently, scoring at least 34 DK points in seven of his last 10 games. Facing Washington is wonderful, too, with the Wizards ranked 24th in total defense this season. He actually missed 15 of his 18 shots in his first matchup with Wash but still had 32 DK points. Imagine how good that could look if his shot is falling!

Kevin Love (C – CLE): $5,700 DraftKings, $5,500 FanDuel
Love has been a disappointment recently, but he’s got too much upside to be sitting below $6K. We’re talking about a guy averaging 28 DK points per game across 22 minutes a night for the season. We love that since he needs to do more in the absence of Mobley and Allen, making him a good bet for 30 minutes. If he plays that much at this rate, we should be looking at 40 DK points! It’s way more likely in this matchup, with the Magic ranked 19th in both points allowed and defensive efficiency.

Value Plays

Monte Morris (PG – DEN): $5,200 DraftKings, $4,800 FanDuel
Morris has been underpriced all season. He’s amid one of the best stretches of his career right now, averaging 28 DK points per game across his last 17 outings. That’s incredible from a $5K player, especially since he’s being asked to do more in the absence of MPJ and Murray. We already mentioned how sensational of a matchup San Antonio is, surrendering the third-most fantasy points to opposing point guards.

Moses Brown (C – CLE): $4,800 DraftKings, $4,900 FanDuel
Brown has always been a solid fantasy producer when given the minutes, and he’s taken over starting center duties in the absence of Allen. That’s led to Moses scoring at least 23 DK points in four straight fixtures, generating a 32-point average in that span. Good luck finding that from another sub-$5K player, particularly with Orlando owning a 28th OPRK against opposing centers.

Tre Jones (PG – SAS): $4,000 DraftKings, $3,700 FanDuel
This is the best play of the day. Jones is expected to start at point guard in the absence of Dejounte Murray, and he’s always been outstanding in that expanded role. Tre has at least 26 DK points in seven of his eight starts for Murray this year, averaging over 33 fantasy points per game. Most players in this price range aren’t even getting off the bench, and Jones is playing at a $7K level. Facing the Nuggets isn’t too shabby either, with Denver owning a 23rd OPRK against opposing ball-handlers.
