Dynasty IDP Rookie Prospect Profile
Nakobe Dean is yet another part of the unbelievable National Champion Georgia defense, and he won the Butkus Award as the best LB in the nation. Dean is an absolute missile in the middle of the defense. He runs downhill to attack the run and in pass-rush situations, and he is able to cover in zone or man up pretty much any position on the field. (He has lined up as a CB on WRs.) Dean is a bit undersized, which is the downside of being that fast, and I do worry a little bit about the size. (I watched a lot of Devin Bush, who had similar measurables.) But I think Dean’s football IQ will negate his lack of size at the next level. Dean will be the communicator on defense and make calls as soon as he earns the every-down role. He is going to be a first-round pick and get a shot to lead a defense. I hope he’s more like Roquan Smith or Devin White and less like Patrick Queen or Devin Bush as an undersized LB, but either way, he’ll be in the middle of a defense racking up tackles for IDP purposes.

Nakobe Dean – Philadelphia Eagles, Pick 83
Dean plummeted in the draft due to a pectoral tear that he elected not to have surgery on and ended up in Philly where they have been LB needy for awhile. The best part is that as an undersized LB his Georgia teammate Jordan Davis got a lot of credit for clearing blockers for him and he ended up on the same squad with him in the NFL. Dean’s injury makes his value for this season fairly low, but he’s a great grab and stash in dynasty leagues.
