Dynasty IDP Rookie Prospect Profile
Devonte Wyatt was a big part of the incredible Georgia defensive line in 2021, mainly playing interior. Wyatt isn’t the typical interior defensive lineman who wins with brute strength. Wyatt is a little more of a finesse player, with excellent hand movement. He can “get skinny” between defenders and has a quick first step and unbelievable lateral agility. I can’t decide if I like his football IQ or his motor more as his best asset. There were many occasions when Wyatt knew exactly where to be before the play, which would lead him into the backfield to blow up a play in the run game.
Wyatt’s motor was on full display against Alabama in the SEC Championship Game on a play where he slipped, and Bryce Young ran past him. Wyatt got back up, chased down Young, and forced a fumble. Wyatt won’t put up eye-popping numbers, as he’s still mainly an interior defensive lineman who eats up blockers and is a rotational player, but he should make the players around him better.

Devonte Wyatt - Green Bay Packers, Round 1: Pick 28
I love this pick for the Packers. Wyatt is still going to be a DT-required option only for the most part but his fit is great and the Packers will put the DL in position to get after the QB more often than most teams. This DL is loaded with Kenny Clark as the anchor, Gary and Smith as the Edge rushers and a good rotation of Wyatt, Reed and Lowry as the ends. Wyatt might not have a high snap% to start but should see more opportunities to get after the QB than a typical DT.
