Derek Stingley Jr. played in only eight games last year due to a foot injury, but that doesn’t seem to bother NFL scouts much, as many have him as the top CB on their list. His skill set certainly fits what you look for in an NFL cornerback. He’s an elite athlete, plays the ball well and has recovery speed. He also excels in man coverage and possesses the ideal length for the position. In IDP leagues, Stingley should grab you some INTs, as he’s bound to get tested early in his career. The hope is that he can become a lockdown corner someday. However, if and when that happens, his fantasy stats could dip, as fewer targets will go toward his side of the field.

Derek Stingley - Houston Texans, Pick 3
The Texans made Stingley the number 3 overall pick in the draft and if he lives up to that Freshman hype he’ll shut down whatever half of the field he’s covering. Luckily we know that rookie DBs get challenged early in their career until they prove themselves worthy of being avoided. Stingley was also challenged his Freshman season and he came down with 6 INTs and 15 Passes Defended. Stingley will be a better real life NFL talent than fantasy player but, he should give us some nice production early in his career.
