More Undervalued Players Using Yahoo ADP (2022 Fantasy Baseball)

Knowing your fantasy baseball host site’s ADP can help you find overvalued and undervalued players in the pool. Today we will compare Yahoo’s ADP to FantasyPros Expert Consensus Ranks (ECR) and FantasyPros ADP. The FantasyPros ECR is comprised of rankings from experts across the industry. The FantasyPros ADP combines six sources from the most popular fantasy baseball platforms to find a consensus. In doing this, you can find outliers on different platforms. Today, we look at Yahoo’s ADP to find some undervalued players.

We will define undervalued players in a couple of ways. In my last article, I looked at players with a top-100 consensus ADP who are going ten spots below that on Yahoo. Today we look at post-100 ADP to find some good values later in drafts. After, we will look at the Expert Consensus Rankings and find players who are being drafted 15 places lower than their respective ECR. Using this process can help maximize the value of your teams.

Undervalued Players on Yahoo

Looking at the difference between Yahoo and FantasyPros Consensus ADP, you will find a lot of pitchers, catchers, and players who steal. This is partly because catchers are pushed up on NFBC. After all, their leagues are two-catchers formats. Starting pitchers also get pushed up in some NFBC leagues, but that does not mean some of these starting pitchers are not excellent values on Yahoo. Stolen bases also get pushed up in an overall component, so you can find some solid value on steals late on Yahoo. Let's talk about them.

Bobby Witt Jr. (SS - KC)

If you are into Bobby Witt Jr. and don't want to pay the high premium, you can easily grab him on Yahoo. With an average draft pick of 115, it seems like a sure bet that Witt will have a positive return on investment in 2022. He will earn third base eligibility, which provides an excellent boost in value, considering third base is a shallow position. With potential 25/25 upside, Witt is a no-brainer going after pick 100.

Daulton Varsho (C,OF - ARI)

Daulton Varsho is another example of a player pushed up on sites with an overall component but a great value on Yahoo. Varsho's profile is highly enticing because he is one of few catcher-eligible players who can help you with stolen bases. Varsho will be the Diamondbacks' everyday centerfielder but will get reps behind the dish as well. With a potential for 20 home runs and 15 stolen bases, Varsho is an excellent target for your catcher spot after pick 150.

Willy Adames (SS - MIL)

After his trade from Tampa Bay to Milwaukee, Willy Adames looked like a stud. Adames was well documented saying he did not like hitting in Tropicana Field. His career at home with Tampa Bay consisted of a .219/.277/.347/ slash line with a 30 percent strikeout rate. On the road, a .291/.363/.495 slash line.

Upon being traded to Milwaukee, Adames posted a slash of .285/.366/.521, which does not seem like a fluke when you see his career road numbers. Adames is being drafted 90 picks later than Carlos Correa (SS - MIN) on Yahoo when it feels like they can be very similar players in 2022.

There are plenty of first basemen that seem like tremendous values on Yahoo, according to FantasyPros ECR. C.J. Cron (1B - COL), Josh Bell (1B,LF - WSH), and Rhys Hoskins (1B - PHI) are all going at least 17 spots after their ECR, while Hoskins tops out at 30 spots later. Joey Votto (1B - CIN) is going 50 spots post-ECR. Trey Mancini (1B - BAL) is another who is going much later, 26 spots behind where the experts rank him. If you opt to wait on first base in a Yahoo draft, there are many great values.

Justin Verlander (SP - HOU)

Justin Verlander is a pitcher who catches my eye, going 20 picks after his expert ranking. Verlander has looked sharp this spring, throwing 4.2 scoreless innings with four strikeouts. His velocity is sitting around where it was in 2019, and his secondaries also look good. Despite being 39 years old, there are plenty of reasons that Verlander can be a great value pick going around 120 on Yahoo.

Andrew Benintendi (OF - BOS)

Andrew Benintendi seems to be highly undervalued coming into 2022. After a strong rookie and second season in Boston, Benintendi fell slightly off the map. He saw a bit of a resurgence in 2021 with Kansas City, hitting 17 home runs and stealing eight bases. He is an excellent source of batting average and should be north of .275 in 2022. The power and speed are still there, and it is a real possibility that Benintendi could hit 20 home runs and steal 15 bases in 2022, making him a great value pick post-200 on Yahoo.
