2022 Fantasy Football Mock Draft: Standard Scoring

2022 Fantasy Football Mock Draft: Standard Scoring

Even though the new “standard” feels like it’s point per reception scoring, we still have to show love to our roots. Let’s show some love to the folks who still play with standard scoring! I ran a 12-team, standard draft using FantasyPros Mock Draft Wizard. In terms of NFL rosters, I’m assuming they’re staying the same as 2021, minus retirees (which may be flawed logic, but I don’t mix my mock drafts with draft, trade, and free agency speculation yet).

Here’s how it went.

Takeaways

Right away, I was greeted with a difficult choice at pick six. I mainly decided amongst Nick Chubb, Christian McCaffrey (RB – CAR), and Cooper Kupp (WR – LAR). I narrowed that down to Kupp and Chubb because I have no certainty regarding McCaffrey’s injury status at this point in the year. I went with Chubb because of his rock-solid floor, guaranteed usage, and undeniable talent.

I went with Mike Evans over George Kittle (TE – SF) and Keenan Allen (WR – LAC) in the third round. This was extremely close for me. I figured I’d go with the single-game ceiling of Mike Evans. Sure, his floor is a bit lower, but he’s proven season after season he’ll have weeks where he near-singlehandedly wins you a matchup. In a .5 or full PPR league, I’d be happily picking Allen here.

I was stoked with Darren Waller in the fifth round. Sure, his knee injury is problematic, but he’ll have plenty of time to recover, and I have a tough time imagining a world where a healthy Waller doesn’t dominate.

My eighth-round pick was a toss-up. I went with Allen Robinson over Mike Williams (WR – FA). Though Williams started last season on fire, he mellowed out. On the other hand, Robinson has proven he can be a team’s dynamic WR1. I was willing to take a shot at that ceiling.

The end of my draft went swimmingly. I went with Myles Gaskin over Zack Moss, but Moss fell to me two rounds later. I went with Trey Lance over Justin Fields, and Fields fell to me two rounds later. I like to double up on quarterbacks or tight ends if I’m drafting them late. These late-round picks are always droppable, so why not throw some darts?
