NBA DraftKings & FanDuel DFS Primer: Wednesday (2/9)

That Tuesday card was something! It feels like every stud player went off, and it led to one of the highest-scoring nights of the season. It’s rare to have so many games on a Tuesday, but it looks like they’re trying to pile them on ahead of the trade deadline on Thursday. There were also two wild moves before that slate started, and it opened up a ton of value!

After a massive slate on Tuesday, we’re down to just six games for this Wednesday card. What’s going to make this one tough is that we have four teams in the second half of a back-to-back set. That’s a third of the slate, and it’ll surely lead to some resting and difficult decisions.

Injury Report

Core Plays

Pascal Siakam (PF/C – TOR): $9,400 DraftKings, $10,000 FanDuel
This dude is on an unbelievable run right now. Sia has scored at least 36 fantasy points in 29 straight games, averaging nearly 50 DraftKings points per game in that span. It’s easy to understand why when looking at his role, with Pascal playing 40 minutes a night! That makes him an easy play against OKC, with the Thunder owning a 30th OPRK against opposing power forwards.

Zach LaVine (SG – CHI): $9,100 DraftKings, $8,000 FanDuel
This fanDuel price is crazy. LaVine has scored at least 33 DK points in all seven games since returning from injury, scoring 30-plus in 40 of 45 games in total. We love that since he has at least 40 fantasy points in 25 of those, an unbelievable total from an $8K player. The matchup with Charlotte is sexy, too, with the Hornets ranked 24th in defensive efficiency and 28th in points allowed.

Anfernee Simons (PG/SG – POR): $7,300 DraftKings, $6,800 FanDuel
Portland is going to be an easy team to stack on this slate. They already lost Damian Lillard to an injury but traded away C.J. McCollum, Norman Powell, Larry Nance, and Robert Covington over the last three days. That leaves Simons as the only ball-handler left, averaging over 30 fantasy points per game when Lillard is out. Los Angeles is the best matchup for point guards, too, surrendering the most fantasy points to them this season.

Cash Game Considerations

LeBron James (SF – LAL): $10,800 DraftKings, $10,800 FanDuel
LeBron was rested for most of the second half on Tuesday, so we believe he’ll be ready to go here. We’re talking about one of the best players in fantasy, scoring at least 38 DK points in 30 straight games. He’s also averaging 56 DraftKings points per game in that span and should duplicate that against a 28th-ranked Portland defense.

Karl-Anthony Towns (C – MIN): $9,700 DraftKings, $9,900 FanDuel
We had KAT in this spot on Tuesday, and we’re going right back to the well. He’s scored at least 38 DK points in 28 of his last 29 games, flirting with a 50-point average in that span. That’s sensational against Sacramento, with the Kings ranked 29th in both defensive efficiency and points allowed.

Jusuf Nurkic (C – POR): $8,200 DraftKings, $7,700 FanDuel
We just talked about how shorthanded Portland is, and it actually leaves Big Nurk as the focal point of this offense. That means he’s looking at a 30 percent usage rate, which is great news since he’s in one of the best stretches of his career. Jusuf has scored at least 30 DK points in 20 of his last 21 games, posting a 41-point average in that span. We love that against the Lakers, with LA ranked third in pace and 27th in points allowed. In their two matchups this season. Nurk is averaging 45 fantasy points per game in fewer than 29 minutes a night!

GPP Targets

Damian Jones (C – SAC): $3,700 DraftKings, $5,500 FanDuel
This FanDuel price is tricky, but Jones is one of the best plays of the day on DK! He got a start for Richaun Holmes (personal) on Tuesday, tallying 18 points, six rebounds, five assists, and two steals. That’s a gem from a sub-$4K player, and he should continue to play a huge role with Richaun and Marvin Bagley both out.

Justise Winslow (SF – POR): $4,500 DraftKings, $4,300 FanDuel
Someone needs to play for Portland! Winslow was the key piece of the RoCo-Powell trade, with Justise dropping 32.3 DK points across 32 minutes in his first game with the Blazers. Good luck finding that from another $4,500 player, with Winslow guaranteed 30-plus minutes for this shorthanded team. We also don’t mind that LA owns a 25th OPRK against opposing wings, either!

Udoka Azubuike (C – UTA): $4,000 DraftKings, $4,600 FanDuel
Udoka has been starting for Gobert, and he just had the best game of his career on Monday. The big man dropped 30 DK points across 28 minutes of play, giving him a 22-minute floor and a 24-point floor over the last three fixtures. That’s all you can ask for from someone this cheap, and the center position is one of the few spots where you can exploit this elite Warriors defense.

Value Plays

Coby White (PG/SG – CHI): $5,100 DraftKings, $4,500 FanDuel
The Bulls guards have been going down like flies! They’re currently missing Ball, Caruso, and Dosumnu, leaving White one of the only backcourt players left. That should guarantee him 30-40 minutes, with White playing spectacularly in that role throughout the season. In fact, Coby is averaging 30 DK points per game in the 14 outings he’s played at least 29 minutes. We already talked about how great of a matchup Charlotte is too!

Maurice Harkless (SF/PF – SAC): $3,800 DraftKings, $6,100 FanDuel
I don’t know if I’ve ever seen such a large price discrepancy! In any case, it makes Harkless an excellent play on DraftKings, scoring 80.5 combined DraftKings points over the last two games. He did suffer a minor injury on Tuesday, though, and he’s off-limits if he doesn’t play. If that’s the case, don’t forget about Chimezie Metu!

Ben McLemore (SG/SF – POR): $4,300 DraftKings, $4,600 FanDuel
We already talked about how someone needs to play for Portland, but they also need someone who will score. We have to believe McLemore will fire up 15-20 shots for this shorthanded roster, taking 11 shots while playing 31 minutes on Tuesday. We believe those 11 shots will be his floor because they need to get going on the offensive end after yet another dud on Tuesday.
