Greetings, friends, and welcome to Week 11 of our Main Slate GPP Advice series. As always, we’ll be focused on GPP contests and players you can use to fill out your lineups while saving some of your budget. Let’s take a look at some of my favorite GPP targets for this week.
GPP means we are going to look for value and take big swings. You shouldn’t have every player below in your DFS lineups. These are players with upside to target so that you can save money to use on higher-priced studs. We are going to identify value. We are going to monitor injury situations. We are going to take some risks. And most importantly, we are going to make some money.
As a general reminder, these are how most FanDuel and DraftKings contests are formatted:
- FanDuel $60,000 salary cap, 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 Flex, 1 DEF ($6,667 average price per position)
- DraftKings: $50,000 salary cap, 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 Flex, 1 DEF ($5,555 average price per position)

The players below are ones I’m looking at for large-field tournament considerations for Week 11 main slates:
Quarterbacks
FanDuel
Tua Tagovailoa (MIA - QB): $7,000 vs. NYJ
In Week 10 against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday Night Football, Tua Tagovailoa was oddly recovered enough from his finger injury to start the game but was able to serve as the backup and ultimately enter the game after Jacoby Brissett left with a knee injury. And not only did Tua play, but he completed eight of his 13 passes for 158 yards and a touchdown as the Dolphins upset the Ravens. Tua has been up-and-down this season and has dealt with multiple injuries, but he has also flashed his potential. In Week 11, he gets a favorable matchup against the New York Jets, and his $7,000 price tag makes him QB20 on FanDuel. That price could make him the GPP play of the week at quarterback.
Joe Flacco (NYJ - QB): $6,000 vs. MIA
This one is not for the faint of heart, especially with the Miami defense playing better of late. But at $6,000 on FanDuel, Joe Flacco is essentially free. And his roster% is going to be close to zero. Flacco isn't really auditioning for the long-term job with the Jets, but he is essentially auditioning to remain in the league for other teams. He's a veteran and has been serviceable when called upon in the past. If you can get a decent performance out of this free square and pair it with a stud lineup, that is how you win big GPP contests.
DraftKings
Cam Newton (CAR - QB): $5,100 vs. WAS
Cam Newton is starting for the Panthers in Week 11, which feels crazy to say. The Washington defense, while it has played better of late, has disappointed this season and is now without edge rusher Chase Young. While probably not as extreme a case as Flacco, Newton is pretty much auditioning to stay in the league. And more than that, he is trying to prove he can continue to start for his former and now current team. I'm not the biggest Newton fan in the world, but he is an intriguing option this week, especially when you consider his running ability and that $5,100 price tag.
Ryan Tannehill (TEN - QB): $6,700 vs. HOU
Derrick Henry isn't walking through that door. Ryan Tannehill is going to have to show he can throw the ball if the Titans are going to go anywhere this season. Tannehill finished as QB8 in Week 10 against the Saints, and he gets a much better matchup this week in the Texans. He is appropriately priced at QB8 on the DraftKings main slate, but his roster% should be low.
Running Backs
FanDuel
AJ Dillon (GB - RB): $7,000 vs. MIN
At $1,700, Dillon is one of the biggest price increases in Week 11. This is, of course, because of the Aaron Jones injury. But despite finishing as the overall RB1 in Week 10, Dillon is priced as the RB18 despite in Week 11 despite a favorable matchup. It's perhaps somewhat rare that a $1,700 price increase still results in a value, but that's what we're looking at with Dillon this week.
James Conner (ARI - RB): $7,200 vs. SEA
James Conner is a value on both sites this week because of price, matchup, and the absence of Chase Edmonds. He is an even bigger discount on DraftKings, so feel free to use him there, too. With a bye week in Week 12, it's possible that the Cardinals decide to rest Kyler Murray for another week. But the absence of Murry hasn't bothered Conner over the last two weeks, and it shouldn't negatively impact his value this week against the Seahawks.
DraftKings
Darrel Williams (KC - RB): $5,400 vs. DAL
It's sounding like Clyde Edwards-Helaire is not going to be activated ahead of Sunday's game against the Cowboys. And with a Week 12 bye week looming, that makes sense. It also makes Darrel Williams a value for at least one more week. Williams is priced as a back-end RB2 (RB23) on the DraftKings main slate despite finishing as the RB3 overall last week. Easy decision.
Mark Ingram II (NO - RB): $5,400 vs. PHI
This one depends on Alvin Kamara. If Kamara is out on Sunday or sounds like he is going to be limited, then Ingram becomes a great play against this Philadelphia defense. If reports come out saying Kamara is 100%, then Ingram is less appealing, but still not completely a stay-away in GPP. Kamara didn't practice on Thursday, and it sounds as of this writing as if he isn't at practice again on Friday. Ingram could be in line for a significant workload against a defense that gives up a ton of yards and is a bargain at $5,400.
Wide Receivers
FanDuel
A.J. Brown (TEN - WR): $7,200 vs. HOU
Most of what we said about Tannehill is true for A.J. Brown, too. I'll be stacking the two in at least one GPP contest this week. At $7,200, Brown is priced as the WR11 on the FanDuel main slate, so a back-end WR1. That isn't a huge discount, and Brown may end up being a better Cash play. But it's good enough value for me to target him as my WR1 in GPP this week.
Hunter Renfrow (LV - WR): $6,100 vs. CIN
Hunter Renfrow, despite his consistent production and target share, is WR26 on FanDuel. He has received at least eight targets in five of his last six games, has caught seven passes in three consecutive games, and has touchdowns in two consecutive games. I have no problem paying outside of the WR2 price this week for that kind of reliable production.
DraftKings
Michael Gallup (DAL - WR): $4,200 vs. KC
I originally had Amari Cooper penciled in here, but I'm pivoting to Gallup due to Cooper being ruled out after a positive COVID test. With Cooper out, Gallup is a perfect GPP play. His $4,200 price tag means he is essentially free on DraftKings (WR47 if you're counting), but he should start alongside CeeDee Lamb and could see plenty of targets if this matchup against the Chiefs turns into a shootout.
Tyler Lockett (SEA - WR): $6,000 vs. ARI
Tyler Lockett only caught two passes last week, but he was targeted eight times. He has been inconsistent and disappointing this season, but he's priced as the WR18 on DraftKings this week. With his upside, Russell Wilson having another week to work his way back from that thumb injury, and what will likely be a low roster%, Lockett is a solid GPP play on DraftKings this week.
Tight Ends
FanDuel
T.J. Hockenson (DET - TE): $5,900 vs. CLE
The Detroit Lions are bad. Jared Goff is bad. Tim Boyle, who is expected to start in Goff's place on Sunday, probably isn't very good either. None of those things is an obvious endorsement of T.J. Hockenson. But the Lions have to give the ball to someone, and they'll likely be losing early. Before a dud against the Steelers, Hockenson had seen 29 targets over his previous three games. Boyle is 27 years old but has minimal experience in the league. Inexperienced quarterbacks tend to lean on their tight ends. If the Lions are losing and their quarterback is looking for safety nets in the passing game, Hockenson could see a ton of targets.
DraftKings
Adam Trautman (NO - TE): $3,300 vs. PHI
We talked about the Eagles' linebacker situation and their difficulty covering tight ends last week. Even in a blowout win over the Broncos, the Eagles still allowed Noah Fant to catch five passes for 59 yards in his first game back from the reserve/COVID-19 list. Fellow tight end Albert Okwuegbunam also caught three passes for 77 yards, and Fant and Albert O were actually the two leading receivers for Denver. Trautman should find similar success against this Philadelphia pass defense in Week 11.
Defense/Special Teams
FanDuel
Washington Football Team (WAS - DST): $3,500 vs. CAR
The Panthers are a mess and are turning to Cam Newton as their starting quarterback right now. They may actually save their season, but it is just as likely that Newton flops in a bad situation with a limited grasp of the offense, at least this week. I listed Newton as a potential GPP play above because of his price, running ability, and upside, but this week is an uphill battle for the veteran quarterback.
DraftKings
Cleveland Browns (CLE - DST): $3,100 vs. DET
As mentioned above, the Lions are a mess right now. As bad as they are now, they could be worse on Sunday with Tim Boyle starting in relief of Jared Goff. The Browns are DST7 on DraftKings but could very well finish as the top overall unit in Week 11. Targeting the Lions has been a regular strategy for me this season, and an injury to the quarterback position just makes that strategy that much more appealing.
