Greetings, friends, and welcome to Week 10 of our Main Slate GPP Advice series. As always, we’ll be focused on GPP contests and players you can use to fill out your lineups while saving some of your budget. Let’s take a look at some of my favorite GPP targets for this week.
GPP means we are going to look for value and take big swings. You shouldn’t have every player below in your DFS lineups. These are players with upside to target so that you can save money to use on higher-priced studs. We are going to identify value. We are going to monitor injury situations. We are going to take some risks. And most importantly, we are going to make some money.
As a general reminder, these are how most FanDuel and DraftKings contests are formatted:
- FanDuel $60,000 salary cap, 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 Flex, 1 DEF ($6,667 average price per position)
- DraftKings: $50,000 salary cap, 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 Flex, 1 DEF ($5,555 average price per position)

The players below are ones I’m looking at for large-field tournament considerations for Week 10 main slates:
Quarterbacks
FanDuel
Carson Wentz (IND - QB): $7,500 vs. JAC
If you haven't been paying attention, the Carson Wentz resurgence is here. Through nine games, Wentz has thrown 17 touchdowns against just three interceptions while also rushing for 121 yards and another touchdown. He has thrown six touchdown passes over his last two games and had extra time to prepare for Week 10 after playing on Thursday in Week 9. Oh, and he has a favorable matchup against a Jaguars team that is due for a letdown after upsetting the Bills. He's priced as a low-end QB1 on the FanDuel main slate this week.
Teddy Bridgewater (DEN - QB): $7,200 vs. PHI
From our Week 10 DFS Pricing Exploitation article:
Teddy Bridgewater leads the league in completion percentage for quarterbacks who have played at least nine games, and the Philadelphia defense is flirting with NFL records for completion percentage allowed. Eagles defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon has drawn criticism for his soft coverages and bend-but-don't break game plans that have led to big numbers for opposing quarterbacks. Teddy Bridgewater is QB18 in terms of price on FanDuel this week, meaning he is perfectly priced for GPP contests.
DraftKings
Russell Wilson (SEA - QB): $6,700 vs. GB
Russell Wilson is back. More importantly, he was cleared early this week, so we don't even have to worry about him being questionable heading into the weekend. At $6,700, he isn't a huge discount, but he is still a discount. And his roster% should be low with some fantasy managers preferring to stay away from him because of the injury concerns. The Green Bay defense has been improving this season, but Wilson is priced low enough and has enough upside to be a valuable GPP play this week.
Taylor Heinicke (WAS - QB): $5,400 vs. TB
The rematch we've all been waiting for: Taylor Heinicke vs. Tampa Bay. Heinicke became (nearly) a household name after his performance against the Buccaneers in the 2020 playoffs, and he has been thrust back into the starting lineup this season due to Ryan Fitzpatrick's injury. Washington is going to have to throw the ball against this Tampa Bay defense, so Heinicke should benefit from a decent volume. What he does with that volume is another question, but at just $5,400 on DraftKings, I'm willing to throw an inexpensive dart at a repeat of the 2020 playoffs.
Running Backs
FanDuel
D'Ernest Johnson (CLE - RB): $5,400 vs. NE
There is still a chance that starting running back Nick Chubb could be cleared from the reserve/COVID-19 list ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Patriots. If he isn't, then De'Ernest Johnson at $5,400 becomes the value of the week. The Chubb uncertainty should result in Johnson's roster% being lower than usual since many early lineup setters will be cautious.
Michael Carter (NYJ - RB): $6,100 vs. BUF
Michael Carter is emerging as the guy in the New York (it's really New Jersey, but I digress) backfield, and he is also emerging as a stud fantasy running back. Before a down week against the Colts due largely to a negative game script, Carter had received 26 carries and 23 targets in his previous two games combined. The best part? Because he has a tough matchup against the Bills this week, he is priced as RB24 on FanDuel's main slate, but I have him projected for borderline Top 12 production.
DraftKings
Leonard Fournette (TB - RB): $6,100 vs. WAS
Tampa Bay lost to the Saints in Week 8 and had their bye in Week 9, so they have had to sit with a bad loss for two weeks. I expect them to come out firing against a bad Washington team in Week 10, especially since they struggled against this team in the playoffs despite their superior talent. After two consecutive RB1 performances, Fournette laid an egg against the Saints. I expect him to bounce back, as well, and his RB15 price tag is enough of a discount for me to use him in some GPP lineups.
Aaron Jones (GB - RB): $6,900 vs. SEA
Aaron Jones has been inconsistent this season, but that inconsistency should also keep his roster% relatively low this week. He's RB10 in terms of price on the DraftKings main slate but has a great matchup against a Seattle defense that gives up a ton of points to running backs. It sounds like Aaron Rodgers is on track to play in Week 10, which is an added boost to Jones's value.
Wide Receivers
FanDuel
Michael Pittman Jr. (IND - WR): $7,200 vs. JAC
Michael Pittman continues to produce like a Top 10 wide receiver and continues to be a bargain in DFS. To be completely honest, I'm not entirely sure why. I'm just throwing him in multiple lineups every week. This week, he is WR17 on FanDuel despite three consecutive Top 10 finishes. I guess we're starting Pittman in multiple contests again.
Jerry Jeudy (DEN - WR): $6,200 vs. PHI
We have talked a bunch recently about just how bad the Philadelphia defense is. And Philly's preference for soft coverage, especially underneath, should provide plenty of opportunities for Jerry Jeudy on Sunday. In two games since returning from injured reserve, Jeudy has caught 10 passes for 108 yards. He could eclipse both of those numbers against the Eagles in Week 10.
DraftKings
Diontae Johnson (PIT - WR): $6,800 vs. DET
At WR11 on the DraftKings main slate, Diontae Johnson isn't the biggest swing in the world. Still, his roster% should be somewhere around 5-10%, and I expect him to exceed his projections against a bad Lions squad. He has received double-digit targets five times in seven games this season, and he should see a similar volume in Week 10 with Pittsburgh banged up at the wide receiver position.
Cole Beasley (BUF - WR): $5,200 vs. NYJ
Cole Beasley isn't the most popular "real life" player right now because of some of his comments and stances before the season, but he has been a quietly productive received this season. He has received double-digit targets for times this season, including in the last two weeks. Against a struggling New York defense, he could see a similar target share in Week 10, especially with the Bills needing to bounce back after a bad loss to the Jaguars. At $5,200, he is WR29 on the DraftKings main slate this week.
Tight Ends
FanDuel
Pat Freiermuth (PIT - TE): $5,100 vs. DET
Despite scoring three touchdowns over his last two games, Pat Freiermuth is just $5,100 for Pittsburgh's matchup against the Lions at home this week. He has performed as a TE1 in three consecutive weeks and has received 20 targets in those three games. Despite all of that, he is priced as the TE21 on FanDuel this week. I wasn't in love with many of the main slate TE options this week for either site, which is why Freiermuth makes the DraftKings list, as well.
DraftKings
Noah Fant (DEN - TE): $4,300 vs. PHI
Noah Fant missed last week's game against the Cowboys because he tested positive for COVID-19 and wasn't cleared in time for the game. He was activated on Wednesday, however, and gets a fantastic matchup in Week 10 against the Eagles. Not only do the Eagles have one of the worst defenses in the NFL, but they are 32nd against tight ends. Philadelphia has famously avoided using any resources at the linebacker position, and they are banged up in the secondary heading into this one. And as mentioned above, Denver quarterback Teddy Bridgewater leads the league in completion percentage for quarterbacks who have played at least nine games, and the Philadelphia defense is flirting with NFL records for completion percentage allowed.
Defense/Special Teams
FanDuel
Arizona Cardinals (ARI - DST): $4,800 vs. CAR
The Panthers are starting P.J. Walker at quarterback this week, and the Arizona Cardinals have one of the best defenses in the league. End of transmission. Ok, we'll do a little bit more. The Cardinals have finished as a DST1 seven times already this season, and the Panthers are their easiest matchup through the first 10 weeks. They have only allowed 20 or more points three times, and that was to the Packers, Rams, and Vikings. I have them projected as my top DST this week, but they are DST3 overall in terms of price on FanDuel. Pay up for this one, even in GPP.
DraftKings
Dallas Cowboys (DAL - DST): $3,000 vs. ATL
The Cowboys D/ST had probably their worst performance of the season against the Broncos in Week 9, allowing 30 points while not forcing any turnovers. After forcing 14 turnovers (11 interceptions, 3 fumble recoveries) over their first six games of the season, they haven't forced any over their last two games. That will change on Sunday, and I am expecting a bounceback performance against the Falcons. The Cowboys are going to cruise to a division title in the NFC East, but they need to prove that they belong among the NFC's elite.
