8 Players to Buy Low/Sell High (Fantasy Football)

Fantasy trade deadlines are almost here in many leagues. You’re coming up on your last chance to make that playoff push, get athletes with the most favorable schedules, or replenish a roster that was depleted by injuries. Now isn’t the time to be complacent. If you can snag some undervalued players by sending away the guys that are due for a regression, then your championship chances will improve. Our featured pundits are here to help you by identifying the athletes they’re seeking to acquire or send away. Read on below to see their top trade candidates for Week 11.

Q1. Who is your favorite buy-low trade candidate at this point in the season and why? Also, who are you willing to give up for him?

Saquon Barkley (RB – NYG)
“All indications are that Barkley will return against Tampa Bay this weekend, but fantasy managers have to be concerned over how much time he has missed and a perceived difficult matchup. But the Bucs’ run defense has shown some cracks and they’ll be without Vita Vea here, so Barkley should likely have a better game than expected. Three of his next five opponents (the Eagles twice and the Chargers) bleed fantasy points to opposing running backs, and Devontae Booker was handling 19 touches per game. If Barkley gets that volume — and he should — he’ll be a strong RB1. I’d try to swap another running back like Leonard Fournette or a receiver like Marquise Brown or Keenan Allen.”
– Dan Harris (FantasyPros)

Elijah Moore (WR – NYJ)
“Moore is currently ranked WR46 in the half-PPR Expert Consensus Rest of Season rankings. Players such as his teammate Corey Davis, Odell Beckham, Van Jefferson, and Marvin Jones are players ranked ahead of Moore that I would have no problem parting with. Moore has at least six targets in each of the last four games and is the WR5 in half-PPR scoring over the same span. The Jets’ remaining schedule looks to be set up nicely for the slot WR, including opponents like Miami (twice), Houston, Jacksonville, and Tampa Bay.”
– Kevin Wheeler (The Draft Zone)

Michael Carter (RB – NYJ)
“Carter is undervalued simply because he’s on the Jets. Over his last three games he’s averaged 19.3 touches and has produced 340 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns. He’s a dual run-catch threat with one of the heartiest and most secure workloads of any running back in the league. Carter is a rock-solid RB2 but probably isn’t regarded as such even by many of the fantasy managers rostering him. I’d be willing to part with Adam Thielen or Jaylen Waddle in order to add Carter to my roster.”
– Pat Fitzmaurice (FantasyPros)

Ezekiel Elliott (RB – DAL)
“Elliott’s recent game log has been tricky. Last week the Cowboys blew out the Falcons, so Zeke wasn’t needed after his two scores. The week before, the Cowboys got destroyed, so the game script didn’t favor him running the rock. Three weeks ago, Cooper Rush was playing QB. If you could sell high on James Conner with a second player in return for Zeke, I would do that in a heartbeat now that Dak Prescott is back healthy and under center for Dallas once again. That’s good news for Zeke’s fantasy value.”

Q2. Who is your favorite sell-high candidate at this point in the season and why? Also, who would you try to get in return?

James Conner (RB – ARI)
“Conner saw a substantial bump in value when Chase Edmonds went down with a high ankle sprain in Week 9. Conner saw 26 total touches that week in a blowout win in San Francisco. Last week he was back down into his normal range of under 15 touches. Arizona has two away games and a bye week in the next three weeks, so he’s unlikely to benefit from a positive game script. Conner has been buoyed by an extremely high touchdown rate (12 in the last eight games), and although there is no reason to believe he won’t get the opportunities, touchdowns have a way of regressing to the norm. He’s currently the RB9 in half-PPR scoring, but ranked as the RB17 by the half-PPR Expert Consensus Rest of Season rankings. Sell the points and give me Antonio Gibson or Javonte Williams.”
– Kevin Wheeler (The Draft Zone)

Mike Evans (WR – TB)
“Yeah, Evans will score touchdowns, and he’s already got nine on the season. But five of those have occurred in the last three games without Antonio Brown and Rob Gronkowski, both of whom should be back soon. Evans has seen four targets or fewer in three of his last four games and he’s now ranked as the sixth wide receiver in fantasy. Once the other receiving options for Tampa Bay return, he likely won’t return anywhere close to that level of value, so I’d try to see if I could swap him for someone like A.J. Brown, who is coming off a few down games, or D.K. Metcalf.”
– Dan Harris (FantasyPros)

Odell Beckham (WR – LAR)
“I was hoping Beckham Jr. would have more than two catches for 18 yards in his Rams debut so that the sell-high window would be open even wider. But based on some of the crazy start/sit questions that I was getting last week (‘Should I start OBJ or Jerry Jeudy?’), Beckham still has plenty of name-brand value, so it’s worth trying to figure out if anyone in your league believes that the Eli Manning-era OBJ is coming back now that he’s in a good offense. I have Beckham ranked as a midrange WR4 in the rest-of-season rankings, and even that might be optimistic considering that he has two bad shoulders and is playing alongside target hog Cooper Kupp. I wouldn’t need much back in a Beckham deal. I’d happily take Rob Gronkowski or a committee back like Devin Singletary.”
– Pat Fitzmaurice (FantasyPros)

Mike Williams (WR – LAC)
“Williams is still the WR15 on the year in half PPR, but he’s the WR57 over the last three weeks. I think his overall stats and ‘big game upside’ are still enough to sell relatively high on in exchange for a solid Tee Higgins or Hunter Renfrow type receiver. Those two have a higher weekly floor than what Williams is offering right now at this point in the season.”
