Wednesday's Starting Pitcher Strategy

Even with nine games on the docket, it feels like a game of dodging pitching landmines tonight. The best hurlers have either struggled of late or face stiff competition. As a result, there isn't a truly safe option tonight. Yu Darvish qualifies as a talented pitcher who's struggled lately. Yet, his underlying numbers inspire confidence for a turnaround. Hence, he's my favorite pitcher tonight. Although, that's relatively speaking, as there's a lack of comfort selecting any of tonight's pitchers.

Vladimir Gutierrez has pitched reasonably well. No one's going to confuse him for an ace. However, the post-trade-deadline version of the Cubs is capable of making even a mediocre hurler look elite. Thus, he's my second favorite pitcher tonight. Touki Toussaint hasn't been announced as the starter tonight when writing, but his turn in the rotation lines up with tonight, and DraftKings projects him to start. Finally, despite a challenging matchup with the White Sox, Frankie Montas is a dice roll based on his talent level.
