When will Carson Wentz Come Back from Injury? (Fantasy Football Injury Updates)

The preseason is a great time for fans and players alike as everyone is excited about the new campaign. Unfortunately, injuries are also a major part of the preseason, as they pop up and change the outlook for players. That’s the case for Colts quarterback Carson Wentz. Currently, Wentz’s Week 1 status is questionable.

When will Carson Wentz Return from Injury?

Per sources, Colts QB Carson Wentz (foot) could be back on the earlier side of the five to 12 week recovery timeline after undergoing surgery on his foot this past week.

Fantasy Impact:
Based on this information, it’s still possible Wentz is able to start Week 1 since that would put his recovery at about 5-6 weeks post-op. Either way, it sounds like he’ll be back sooner rather than later, which is great news for the entire offense. Don’t downgrade guys like Jonathan Taylor and Michael Pittman Jr. too much heading into the 2021 season.

What the Experts are Saying

Wentz has now undergone surgery on his foot, which puts his availability at the start of the season in question. The projected recovery timeline is a broad one, so we could see Wentz back on the field as early as Week 2 or potentially even as late as Week 8 or 9. Even with projecting him to miss just three games right now, Wentz dropped all the way to QB28 in my rankings. He’s worth monitoring on the waiver wire in 1QB formats to see if he comes back strong after the injury and he’s also worth stashing as a QB3 in SF leagues if you can get him there, but this injury definitely puts a damper on any optimism we had for him in 2021.
