Sleeper: New Look, New Options

Sleeper: New Look, New Options

Sleeper Fantasy Football. If you have yet to try out their platform for whatever reason, the time is now. Sleeper’s website has received a welcomed facelift and now functions as more of a web app. Sleeper is one of the (if not the) fastest growing platforms in the fantasy football space. They have solidified themselves as a top option for dynasty leagues and have now positioned themselves to capture a larger share of the redraft market. It is completely free to create a league on Sleeper, and as any long-time patron will tell you, their mobile app is second to none.

As good as Sleeper is as a mobile fantasy platform, their web app or website was always a pain point for existing and potential users. It was clunky, lacked intuitiveness, and did not meet user expectations. Their revamp has solved a lot of those issues. Instead of trying to build out a website to rival their mobile app in user-friendliness, they opted to create a web app with the same feel as their successful app.

New user interface

The new GUI (graphical user interface) will definitely have a familiar feel for app users. The GUI is intuitive for any mobile app user. It is great for both touchscreen and traditional mouse/keyboard computer users. It will not have a steep learning curve for new users thanks to a sleek, no-nonsense interface.

Why use web app over mobile app

Some may argue that there is no reason to use Sleeper’s web app when they have such a strong mobile app. However, there are a number of ways that the web app may prove to be superior to many users.

Messaging
Messaging is much easier with the web app’s interface. Instead of having to constantly pan back and forth, the message threads and active message window both fit on the screen. This makes it easier to manage multiple conversations from different leagues.

Drafting
Drafting with multiple tabs is obviously much easier on a computer as opposed to a single mobile device. Having tabs with ECR, ADP, your cheat sheet, and/or draft software like our Draft Assistant open for easy access is a must to ensure the best possible draft results. This is especially important for redraft managers as Sleeper’s ADP is heavily skewed by the sheer number of dynasty league drafts that take place on their platform.

Importing Leagues
Importing leagues is less of an exhaustive process through the web app. Importing leagues from other platforms still has to be done manually, so one can imagine how cumbersome the process may be via the mobile app. The website/web app is and was the preferred route to go when you decide to take the plunge and move your league(s) to Sleeper.

Not just for Dynasty Leagues

As mentioned above, Sleeper is positioning itself to capture a larger share of the redraft market. They have made the long-awaited additions of best ball and auction formats. Now redraft fantasy managers are not limited by what league style they can choose for their leagues, giving users more options. There is now no reason not to at least try out a random free league to see what all the fuss is about.
