MLB Daily Fantasy Primer: Friday (7/2)

All but two teams will be included in the main slate on Friday night, but the packed schedule actually has some bright spots. As we will soon see, pricing is not forgiving, yet it is also true to what we would expect from most players. Essentially, we should get our money’s worth. This takes on an added importance with a game in Coors Field and a handful of solid pitchers on the mound at elevated salaries.

Thankfully, there is a path laid out to navigate this otherwise treacherous terrain.

Friday's Starting Pitcher Strategy

As usual, the top-priced pitcher on the slate is our starting point as we have to decide how to approach Max Scherzer. If we're looking strictly at numbers and the matchup, then he's actually an easy fade. He faces a Dodgers team that strikes out at a moderate rate but is one of the highest-scoring in the league. Of course, the job is to look a little deeper than the numbers, and that's what makes Scherzer worth the risk. His price tag is high for a reason, and I don't expect a shred of intimidation from him when he faces a solid Los Angeles lineup. Unless I need savings, I'm starting with Scherzer.
