It’s Tuesday. You know what that means.
The Cavs announced Monday that they wouldn’t be playing Andre Drummond from now on, as they look to deal the double-double machine by the March 25 trade deadline. The Raptors and Nets have been linked to the UConn product, but fantasy managers need a move completed sooner rather than later.
Drummond is the perfect example of a player whose value differs in fantasy relative to real life, where his skill set is dying out. As a manager who has Drummond, you’re forced to keep him and see where he goes. Toronto or Brooklyn would be great for him, as he’d slide into the starting lineup. Elsewhere, though, his value could tank.
‘Tis the season.
Every other week, we’ll be looking at players who are widely available and rostered in fewer than 60 percent of fantasy leagues on Yahoo. We’ll focus on eight-cat leagues because turnovers are a waste of a category, to be honest. We’ll be looking at players who can help you in each of the eight categories who you can get before your league-mates catch on.

The eight categories we’ll focus on each week are:
- Points
- Rebounds
- Assists
- Steals
- Blocks
- Threes
- Field-goal percentage
- Free-throw percentage
Let’s get to it.
Points
Kyle Kuzma (SF/PF – LAL) 50%
With Anthony Davis hurt, then not hurt, then hurt again, it’s opened the door for LeBron James’ favorite player to get some extra run for the Lakers. Luckily, the one thing that Kuzma is good at is scoring, so he’ll provide fantasy value for as long as Davis is on the shelf.
Rebounds
Saddiq Bey (SF – DET) 24%
Bey is forcing the Pistons’ hand into giving him regular rotation minutes. He’s played 21 or more minutes in five of his past six games, and he earned the start his last time out with Blake Griffin resting. He has 46 points, 16 rebounds, six assists, three steals, and 11 made threes in his past two games. Go off, kid.
Assists
Immanuel Quickley (PG – NYK) 29%
Make this three straight columns with Quickley on here. Honestly, expect that to continue the rest of the way, too. He and Derrick Rose have been dynamic together on the court, so it’s only a matter of time before he earns big minutes.
Steals
Hamidou Diallo (SG/SF – OKC) 60%
The biggest value for Diallo right now is his usage. He’s played at least 31 minutes in six of his past seven games, and with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander nursing an injury, he should continue to get big minutes. He is averaging more than a steal per game over those past seven games, and he is providing managers with across-the-board production for eight-cat leagues.
Blocks
Nerlens Noel (PF/C – NYK) 57%
Congrats if you were able to grab Noel. And yet, why is he only rostered in 57 percent of leagues? With Mitchell Robinson down for 4-6 weeks, Noel is the guy for Thibs. He’s a nightly double-double threat and will really help with blocks.
Threes
Josh Jackson (SG/SF – DET) 51%
“We’ve seen what happens if Ellington’s shot isn’t working. He’s kind of useless for fantasy managers.” That’s what I said two weeks ago about Wayne Ellington, and we’ve seen him go ice cold. Enter Jackson, who is the latest Detroit castoff to get hot. Like Ellington, ride him until he gets cold. Right now, he’s a player that you must roster.
Field-goal percentage
Danilo Gallinari (SF/PF – ATL) 57%
We’re going back to the well here on Gallinari. He just got cleared to play 30 minutes per night, which is huge, but what’s even more significant for his value is that John Collins is on the trade block. With Collins out of the picture, expect to see the veteran get a higher usage rate.
Free-throw percentage
Grayson Allen (SG/SF – MEM) 12%
This hurts. Allen isn’t good, but he’s hot right now, and the Grizzlies are still dealing with a bunch of injuries. That’s forcing Allen to play big minutes. He’s the definition of a streamer, but feel free to use him until De’Anthony Melton returns.
