Welcome in, folks! We’ve made it through the bulk of Week 14 action, and it’s that most wonderful time of the evening once again. Sunday night gives fantasy owners time to reflect on the week’s triumphs or losses and take stock of their roster heading into the new week. It’s a time for reflection and a time to assess potential waiver wire options. Each week, I’ll be highlighting a handful of low-rostered options you should consider when making waiver wire claims. Each player’s upcoming three-game schedule will be noted, including strength of matchup. This is particularly helpful if you need a streaming option or a temporary replacement to get you through the tough times.
If you’re reading this, it likely means you won your playoff game or you earned a first-round bye thanks to a strong season. Whatever the case, you’re here because you want to win in Week 15. The options this week aren’t tremendous, but there are still a few savvy adds to help you plug the holes in your roster as the season winds down.
Best of luck in all of your leagues moving forward! If you’ve got any questions about the week’s waiver wire options or anything fantasy football, hit me up on Twitter @ZaktheMonster.
Note: Most players are rostered in 30% or less of Yahoo leagues

Quarterback
Jalen Hurts (PHI): 17% rostered
WEEK 15 | WEEK 16 | WEEK 17 |
@ARI | @DAL | WAS |
__________
Making his first NFL start, Hurts led the Eagles to a shocking upset win over the Saints in Week 14. He played stupendously as a dual-threat option, throwing for 167 yards and a touchdown and picking up 106 yards on the ground. His lone miscue came inside of two minutes left to play in the game, when his fumble set up a Saints’ touchdown that brought New Orleans to within three points. His remaining schedule sets him up nicely to finish his rookie year on a high note, and fantasy managers whose league championship is played in Week 16 will love the matchup with Dallas’ struggling defense.
Mitchell Trubisky (CHI): 10% rostered
WEEK 15 | WEEK 16 | WEEK 17 |
@MIN | @JAX | GB |
__________
Trubisky and the Bears torched the Texans on Sunday, with the team (and its quarterback) doing most of the damage in the first half. Trubisky started the day strong, and tossed all three of his touchdown passes in the first half. He’s been a serviceable fantasy option since returning to the starting lineup, and with great matchups in Minnesota and Jacksonville on tap for the next two weeks, he’s worth an add for the remainder of the fantasy playoffs.
Wide Receiver
Tim Patrick (DEN): 28% rostered
WEEK 15 | WEEK 16 | WEEK 17 |
BUF | @LAC | LV |
__________
Despite some tough remaining matchups on the schedule, Patrick is a must-add ahead of the fantasy semi-finals. He’s scored three times across his last two games, and excluding the Broncos’ QB-less Week 12, Patrick has accumulated double-digit PPR points in his last five games. KJ Hamler‘s career day will surely be the more memorable performance from Sunday’s victory, but Patrick is the Broncos’ receiver to roster moving forward.
Running Back
Lynn Bowden/DeAndre Washington (MIA): 1% rostered/24% rostered
WEEK 15 | WEEK 16 | WEEK 17 |
NE | @LV | @BUF |
__________
Miami’s backfield succumbed to even more absences Sunday, with all of Matt Breida, Myles Gaskin, and Salvon Ahmed on the sidelines. That left Washington and Bowden to handle the load. Washington led the way with 15 touches, but he only mustered 52 total yards. Meanwhile, Bowden was the preferred receiving back, going 7/82 on nine targets and adding a two-yard carry. D-Wash should continue to see the bulk of the backfield carries, but those in PPR leagues should take a gander at Bowden, who is also dual-eligible as a RB and WR in Yahoo leagues.
Jeff Wilson (SF): 19% rostered
WEEK 15 | WEEK 16 | WEEK 17 |
@DAL | @ARI | SEA |
__________
Raheem Mostert was active for this one, but he sustained yet another injury and had to leave the game briefly with a concussion. He was able to return, but he and Wilson split work throughout the game, with both finding the end zone. The 49ers’ end-of-season schedule is juicy for running backs, and Wilson has some standalone value with Mostert available and RB2 appeal if Mostert is forced to miss any time.
Tight End
Irv Smith Jr (MIN): 6% rostered
WEEK 15 | WEEK 16 | WEEK 17 |
CHI | @NO | @DET |
__________
Smith Jr. returned to the lineup Sunday and provided a strong receiving line for fantasy managers that included a touchdown. Across his last two games played without Kyle Rudolph, Smith Jr. has racked up a 6/73/3 receiving line, and he’ll be a quality streamer against Chicago in Week 15 if Rudy is out again.
