Week 4 Fantasy Football Trade Chart (2020)

It’s been a wild start to the fantasy football season, and there is a good chance that wherever you sit in the standings, you’re dissatisfied with your running back or wide receiver situation. Injuries galore have derailed promising teams, and although the waiver wire is always an option, the trade market is often fantasy managers’ best bet.

As always, we’ll update the trade chart weekly. A reminder that the numbers presented are not FAAB dollars, but rather a way to measure the trade value of any player. Just add up the totals on both sides of the trade in the proper format, and judge whether a deal makes sense in a vacuum.

Ben Roethlisberger 6 6 12 12
Jared Goff 6 N/A +6 12 N/A +12

I am not confident in giving Russell Wilson a lower trade value than Lamar Jackson or Patrick Mahomes. I’m really not. Wilson is not going to continue to with his 13.6% touchdown rate, but he’s performing at an MVP level and has a shoddy defense that will force him to keep throwing early and often. Fantasy managers should still prefer Jackson in a one-on-one swap, but barely.

The only other movement on the quarterback chart comes from the addition of Jared Goff, who looks to have benefitted from the lack of fans, which allows Sean McVay to communicate with him easier even on the road. Goff isn’t someone for whom to trade a major asset, but he moves up the rest-of-season quarterback rankings and makes an appearance on the trade chart.

There are plenty of risers in the running back trade chart, and not all of them are due to injury. Nick Chubb will continue to split carries with Kareem Hunt, but he’s still one of the most valuable running backs in the game. Absent a significantly negative game script, Chubb should continue to see 20-plus touches per game, as Kevin Stefanski is who we thought he was as a coach. Chubb is slightly less valuable in PPR formats, but he’s officially in “stud” territory.

As is Austin Ekeler, and that’s regardless of whether Tyrod Taylor reclaims the starting quarterback job. Ekeler’s single target in the Chargers’ first game has led many fantasy managers to conclude that Taylor negatively impacts Ekeler’s value. But this year, more than ever, it’s important not to overreact to a single game. In any event, Ekeler is seeing at least 20 touches in every contest, regardless of game script, and should be valued as a strong RB1, and an elite one in PPR leagues.

There should be no more doubts about James Robinson’s fantasy value. Touchdowns? Check. Work in the passing game? Check. Volume? Check. The Jaguars aren’t a good team but Robinson runs decisively and, more importantly, often. Buy with confidence.

And Darrell Henderson absolutely looks the part of a back who is ready to seize the opportunity in front of him and run with it. Cam Akers‘ rib injury opened the door for Henderson to see 20 touches against the Bills, and he once again looked like the far superior runner. Things can change quickly in Los Angeles – ask managers who picked up Malcolm Brown after Week 1 – but for now, Henderson looks safe.

Tyler Lockett and D.K. Metcalf are WR1s. Period, end of statement. You shouldn’t need any stats to tell you that. Absent a change in offensive philosophy, which won’t happen, or an injury, they’ll both finish as top-12 options. Don’t sell high. Just enjoy the ride.

Over the last two games, Tyler Boyd has seen 21 targets and caught 17 passes for 197 yards and a touchdown. Joe Burrow loved his slot receiver in college, and he loves him now. For all the consternation over A.J. Green, Boyd is slowly developing into a reliable WR2. Value him accordingly.

Marquise Brown has seen six targets in each of the Ravens’ first three games, but he’s on pace for just 832 yards receiving. Lamar Jackson is on pace to exceed last year’s extraordinarily low 401 pass attempts, but only barely, and without a substantial increase in volume, it’s tough to see a path for Brown to continue his development into potential WR2 territory. He’s explosive, and still deserves to be started, but only as a low-end WR3. He should be valued as such.

There are some very minor changes in the overall rankings for the tight end position, but the trade values remain the same. Enjoy the rare continuity.
