DraftKings DFS NBA Strategy Advice: Lakers at Rockets (9/10)

DraftKings DFS NBA Strategy Advice: Lakers at Rockets (9/10)

Today’s slate of NBA games consists of only a single matchup between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Houston Rockets. As of right now, the Lakers lead the series 2-1, but the series has been incredibly close and competitive throughout, so we should expect that trend to continue tonight. Ensure you’re staying up to date with lineup and injury news as we head towards tip-off at 7:00 p.m. EST.

Star

LeBron James (LAL): $19,200
The washed king does not appear to be washed, regardless of his advanced age. LeBron has topped 63-plus DraftKings points in back-to-back games against the Rockets and does not appear to be slowing down in any form or fashion. While Bron’s shooting splits are likely to regress, particularly from two, it doesn’t really matter — he’s so dominant across the board that he’ll always make a tremendous option in these important playoff games. Expect Bron to be a chalky option tonight at the star spot.

James Harden (HOU): $18,600
Harden hasn’t reached the ceiling we all know he’s capable of just yet in this series, but that also makes him a potentially fun contrarian option on today’s slate, which is already littered with star options. Harden’s highest-scoring total came in the last contest with his 58.75 DraftKings points, but he has otherwise failed to reach value in three of four games throughout this series.

Anthony Davis (LAL): $17,400
The Rockets simply don’t have the personnel to properly defend AD, and it shows with his point totals — Davis has topped 55-plus points in three straight games and has remained insanely consistent throughout this series, securing a double-double in every single game. The Rockets’ small-ball lineup will continue to prove to be a disadvantage against the mammoth AD in the paint.

Russell Westbrook (HOU): $15,000
Westbrook might be the wisest contrarian option tonight, but he could either prove to be a league-winning selection or an absolute disaster that flames out your contest before it begins. Westbrook’s usage rates and production have been quite inconsistent lately, but you could use it to your advantage, as his ownership percentage is expected to be lower than the other star-studded options. Still, Russ is coming off a strong 54.5-point performance in his latest game in which he played 36 minutes and attempted 24 shots.

Utility

Robert Covington (HOU): $7,400
The defensive stalwart in RoCo is on display lately, as the power forward has totaled 12 steals and five blocks in his last four contests. While RoCo has struggled to reach value in any of his last three games against the Lakers, he is great on defense, can chip in offensively from the three-point line, and functions as a tertiary option to the Rockets’ stars. RoCo is likely to be a chalky option, and deservedly so, as his price continues to drop in line with his recent DFS output.

Eric Gordon (HOU): $6,800
Eric Gordon’s ceiling is certainly capped with Westbrook back on the court, but that shouldn’t prevent him from being able to at least reach value. In his last three, Gordon hasn’t actually hit value, but he has hovered near it twice. His last game was a stinker in which he only shot 2-9 from the field. Expect some positive shooting regression from the sharpshooter who lives at the three-point line.

P.J. Tucker (HOU): $5,800
Like Gordon, Tucker is coming off an absolute stinker of a performance in which he totaled only 8.5 DraftKings points. The good news is that Tucker was able to score 22.75 and 42.25 DraftKings points in the other two contests against the Lakers, and he has played in 34-plus minutes in each game. Tucker’s reduced price tag, massive minutes, and de facto starting center status are all reasons to buy him, particularly if you’re looking for a cheap player to slot in for a “stars and scrubs” approach.

Rajon Rondo (LAL): $5,200
Whether you think Rondo is good or not doesn’t matter, he’s playing a strong number of minutes off the bench and has produced some fantastic results because of it. Rondo has topped 25-plus minutes in the last three games and has reached value every time with relative ease. Rondo’s price continues to get jacked up, and deservedly so — he’s been very useful in DFS circles since his return to the court.
