Bobby Sylvester’s Final Fantasy Baseball Rankings (Top 300)

Real baseball is exactly one week away and while we won’t be able to go to the games, at least we get to enjoy fantasy baseball. Assuming your league will draft within the next week, I’ve built a fresh set of my top 300 fantasy baseball rankings. Tomorrow, I’ll have my Cheat Sheet for Family and Friends so be sure to keep an eye out for that. Before we get to the full set of rankings, let me give you my five favorite targets and five players I’ll be avoiding like the plague at their ADPs this season.

Five Players to Target

Rich Hill (SP – MIN)
You may have trouble believing this, but Rich Hill has been one of only six starting pitchers in baseball to post a cumulative ERA south of 3.00 since he joined the rotation a handful of years ago. In fact, he joins only Max Scherzer as the only name from that list to also place top six in K/9 during that time. Now that Hill is healthy to begin the season, you can get a bonafide ace super late in your drafts.

Five Players to Avoid

Mike Trout (OF – LAA)
You may cringe at the thought of this, but Trout should not be drafted in the first round this weekend. It is increasingly clear that Trout intends on missing two weeks prior to the birth of his child because if he were to test positive for CoVid in that time, he wouldn’t be allowed to visit his child. In a 60 game season, that accounts for 22% of the season. You just can’t draft anyone in the first round with a high likelihood of missing that much time, no matter how dominant they are.
