Third base is absolutely loaded this season with 5 of the top 25 overall picks and 16 of the top 100 overall picks. Some of those players play multiple positions, of course, and it will almost always make sense to play them at any other position, including first base, since this is the deepest infield position in fantasy baseball. As a result, it doesn’t make a ton of sense to grab yours early since you should be able to grab Justin Turner, J.D. Davis, Scott Kingery or a number of other solid values at a much later pick. If you do snag one earlier in the draft, Manny Machado and Rafael Devers make the most sense near their ADP. Let me tell you about my two favorite options then we will get to the rankings.

Justin Turner (LAD): 13th Round Target
Turner has quietly been one of the better pure hitters in baseball over the last few seasons. The problem is that he consistently misses 30 to 50 games. Now that the season is shortened, fantasy owners may get a .310 batting average with plenty of homers and runs.
J.D. Davis (NYM): 16th Round Target
If you are looking for this year’s breakout player, Davis might just be your guy. He finished the season on an absolute terror once the Mets finally implanted him in the everyday lineup. What’s more, is that the underlying metrics suggest it should have been even better. Now that the designated hitter is in the National League, Davis is a virtual lock to start every day.
