Bobby Sylvester’s 2020 Second Base Rankings (Fantasy Baseball)

If you’ve been playing fantasy baseball for any length of time, you know very well that second base is the most shallow position besides catcher. That isn’t exactly the case anymore, though. I’m entirely content on letting everyone else take the Jose Altuve, Ozzie Albies, Whit Merrifield types near their ADP. Heck, Yoan Moncada and DJ LeMahieu are both popular picks in the top 100, but I think you can get similar value 10 rounds later. As a result, I’m waiting to grab my second basemen in almost every league where I’ll end up with one or both of Rougned Odor and/or Starlin Castro. Sometimes I’ll take Gleyber Torres, however, if he falls into the fourth round.

Rougned Odor (TEX): 17th Round Target
We know by now that Odor is going to kill us in the batting average department but he once again swatted 30 homers with 93 RBIs and double-digit steals. You’ll either need to target BA early or just punt the category altogether, but Odor is great for the other four categories and a virtual lock to finish above his 2B #25 ADP as he was easily within that range despite a down year last season.

Starlin Castro (WAS): 19th Round Target
Castro was a total afterthought for most of the season but he finished on such a strong note that he ended up with 22 homers, a .270 batting average and 86 RBIs in Miami’s crummy lineup. Now that he is in Washington’s park and lineup, he should smash his 2B #29 ADP, especially considering he finished #16 at the position in Miami last year.

Other Rankings: C | 1B | 3B | SS | OF | SP | RP
