Q3. What is your general strategy tip for Round 15?
Didi struggled last year coming off a serious injury, but that discount is baked into his price tag here and I love his upside. From 2016-2018, Didi was a lock for solid power and average from the middle infield spot. Marquez is very talented but risky because of the Coors factor, which who knows if that will come into play this year. Everyone remembers how good McCullers was when the Astros won the World Series and he could definitely recapture that form. I’m out on Brandon Lowe, you couldn’t pay me to draft a middling power middle infielder with a 35% strikeout rate.

We’re starting to see the talent thin out at this stage of the ECR. How many of these players can drafters truly trust? This dozen also starts with a trio whose value must be entirely recalibrated once the details of a potential season are settled. McCullers seemed like a huge overpay here in a 162-game campaign. Maybe not so much now. Puig still doesn’t have a team; hope has to be dwindling of him landing on his feet in time to make a 2020 impact. Since MLB would likely only be able to play in one or two locations, Marquez would jump to a top-20 starter away from Coors Field.
– Andrew Gould (@AndrewGould4)
Big upside with guys like McCullers, Puig, Marquez, DeJong, and Lowe – but this is probably the most risky group of players we have seen so far in this post series. I really like Marquez here as it becomes more and more apparent that at least a portion of the season will be played away from the usual home stadiums. He is my guy here and nobody is particularly close.
– Jon Anderson (@JonPGH)
In the early rounds, I mentioned the depth at third base and shortstop, and we are starting to see the latter come to fruition in this round. I am normally not seeking a way to fill my bench with backup middle infielders — I still project more to be available in the coming rounds — but I would target depth in my pitching via either another low-end closer or one of my preferred starting pitchers.
– Mario Mergola (@MarioMergola)
This round is littered with injury risk (McCullers, Heaney), plus the playing time concerns (Lowe, Puig) come quickly. Paul DeJong is an absolute discount at this price, and he’s a great target for either middle infield or your utility spot. Yes, shortstop is that deep this year. I’m still staying away from guys with injuries, and would consider targeting Doolittle and Kela as strong second closers here. I also would take Marquez as my SP4 in a normal season, and am happy to have him here. I’m excited to see what he looks like outside of Coors.
– Carmen Maiorano (@carmsclubhouse)
Now that Yasiel Puig is signing with the Giants, you can expect his ADP to soar 50 spots so get him here while you can. The same applies to German Marquez, who would be a legitimate Cy Young contender if all the games are played in Arizona ballparks. Other targets in this round for me are Keona Kela, Lance McCullers, and Paul DeJong.
– Bobby Sylvester (@bobbyfantasypro)
There’s not a ton to love in this round, other than two pitchers who benefit significantly from the delayed start – Lance McCullers Jr. (because of the innings limit concerns) and German Marquez (because it’s unlikely there will be games in Colorado). There’s also the cheap power of Paul DeJong but, overall, this round is slim on assets you want to target. As seems to happen almost every other round, I’m largely passing on what is available here for players going later.
