Q3. What is your general strategy tip for Round 4?

I double-tagged Mondesi with both league-winning and bust potential because I think he’s the riskiest pick in the entire draft. Mondesi could single-handedly win you stolen bases while contributing in other categories, or he could be a completely wasted early-round pick with a bum shoulder that cannot get on base. I lean risk-averse in the early rounds, and I’d prefer a well-rounded player like Torres or Kershaw here.

This could be the time to snag a staff anchor if you haven’t already. A shortened season would bode well for Kershaw and Morton, and at least Snell would be going at a bit of a discount here. While this is a reasonable spot to take the gamble on Mondesi, he typically goes sooner. Cruz, meanwhile, is often available much later than his perfectly valid ECR. I want him, but don’t need to take him here.
– Andrew Gould (@AndrewGould4)

This pick should really be based on how your first three rounds went. We are starting to get towards the end of really reliable ace pitchers here, so if you went with three hitters to start, it is probably time to add a safe arm like Kershaw or Nola. If you have pitching taken care of and you like to gamble and play for first-place-or-bust, you can be that guy to take Mondesi here. You probably won’t go wrong with the other hitters in the bunch, and they have their fair share of upside as well. This is a pretty strong round, no matter where you take it.
– Jon Anderson (@JonPGH)

If there were value options in round three, then we are sure to have more overlooked options in round four — in fact, I like this collective group better than the last. This is where people start to get cute, and, while I don’t mind doing the same — being aggressive has its advantages in a draft — it’s hard to ignore some solid players falling into your lap. Generally, this is one of my higher-rated pitchers or a hitter that can change the dynamic of my team.
– Mario Mergola (@MarioMergola)

There’s the same amount of risk as Round 2 (Mondesi is this round’s Tatis), but Round 4 is littered with value. I have Cruz inside my top-25 overall, and he would be my first hitter off the board here. However, I’m typically in need of a pitcher by this pick in the draft, and I could see Kershaw being a league-winner at this price in a shortened season.
– Carmen Maiorano (@carmsclubhouse)

Unless Kershaw is there, I’ve been grabbing Adalberto Mondesi almost every draft in this round. After he is gone, the value plummets enough that I’d consider reaching for Aaron Judge or Giancarlo Stanton here.
– Bobby Sylvester (@bobbyfantasypro)

Because I have Mondesi significantly higher in my rankings, I’ll always pounce on him if he’s here. But other than that, I often find myself taking my second starter, usually Snell or Morton, to balance my rotation. Other than that, I’ll continue to ignore positions and often take the best player available, though I’m still always eyeing speed and/or average of I go with a hitter.
