2020 NFL Mock Draft 2.0 (Two Rounds)

With the Chiefs having secured their first Super Bowl victory in over 50 years, it can only mean that it is time to move along to the 2020 NFL Draft. Today, I’ll be providing my second mock draft and we’ll go 64 picks deep. The draft class is remarkably talented, especially at both the wide receiver and quarterback positions so if you can, try to acquire an extra first-round rookie pick or two in your dynasty leagues.

#1 – Cincinnati Bengals – Joe Burrow (QB – LSU)
With weapons galore at wide receiver and one of the best running backs in the game, the polished Burrow should hit the ground running from day one in Zac Taylor’s offense.

#2 – Washington – Chase Young (Edge – Ohio St)
Some might suggest Washington will trade down to a quarterback-needy team, but Young is even further ahead than Nick Bosa was this time last year. They can’t pass on a player like that.

#3 – Detroit Lions – Jeffrey Okudah (CB – Ohio St)
There is a chance Detroit uses this pick to acquire their quarterback of the future but Okudah or Simmons seem more likely at this point. Okudah might be the best corner in the draft since Jalen Ramsey.

#4 – New York Giants – Isaiah Simmons (LB – Clemson)
Simmons is quickly climbing up everyone’s draft board as he is the ideal mix of intangibles, athleticism and polish. He is going to be an All-Pro in the NFL sooner than later.

#5 – Miami Dolphins – Tua Tagovailoa (QB – Alabama)
I’m finally caving in to the idea that Miami takes their QB this year rather than holding out hope for Trevor Lawrence in 2021. Tua has more upside than even Burrow and can sit a year behind Ryan Fitzpatrick.

#6 – Los Angeles Chargers – Jedrick Wills (OT – Alabama)
The Chargers may very well be trading up to #3 for Tua but if they don’t, we are likely looking at Simmons, a tackle or one of the top two wideouts. Wills is a sensational pass protector.

#7 – Carolina Panthers – Derrick Brown (IDL – Auburn)
The Panthers are another team that could take a QB but if they don’t, Brown is a near lock. He may not fall to them, however, so don’t be surprised if they end up trading back.

#8 – Arizona Cardinals – Tristan Wirfs (OT – Iowa)
Assuming Brown is already off the board, Arizona is near-certain to grab either a tackle like Wills, Wirfs, Thomas or Becton, or the first wideout in the draft in Jeudy or Lamb.

#9 – Jacksonville Jaguars – Jerry Jeudy (WR – Alabama)
They’d do anything to get Simmons and perhaps may even trade up if he is still there at pick #6. If they can’t, we’ll see them reach for the first defensive back, take the best player available (Jeudy/Wirfs) or trade back.

#10 – Cleveland Browns – Andrew Thomas (OT – Georgia)
Thomas has been tumbling down draft boards but isn’t likely to make it beyond Denver at pick 15. Cleveland so desperately needs two tackles that they seem likely to take him, Becton or Wirfs here.

#11 – New York Jets – CeeDee Lamb (WR – Oklahoma)
The Jets need offensive line help more than just about any team in football, but you’d have to think they’d sprint to the podium if either of the top wideouts were still on the board.

#12 – Oakland Raiders – Laviska Shenault Jr. (WR – Colorado)
Don’t be shocked if Oakland trades up for one of Jeudy, Lamb or even Tua. If they don’t, Herbert is an option, but I’m expecting they sign a QB and grab Anquan Boldin 2.0 here.

#13 – Indianapolis Colts – Javon Kinlaw (IDL – South Carolina)
A wideout like Higgins or Shenault is an option here as is Herbert or an edge rusher like Epenesa or Chaisson. Kinlaw is an explosive and polished threat, though, so he might be too good to pass up.

#14 – Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Mekhi Becton (OT – Louisville)
Tampa would love for Kinlaw to fall to them and may end up taking a QB if they decide to move on from Jameis Winston. If not, they’d do well to grab the highest-upside lineman in the draft.

#15 – Denver Broncos – Henry Ruggs III (WR – Alabama)
With Courtland Sutton already holding down the fort on one side, Drew Lock would be licking his chops to add a field stretcher like Ruggs. Corner and offensive tackle make sense here too.

#16 – Atlanta Falcons – A.J. Epenesa (Edge – Iowa)
There is a chance Epenesa slides into the top 8 picks of the draft but he is also a candidate to fall into the 20s. Atlanta is near-certain to address the defense in the first whether through pass rush, IDL or corner.

#17 – Dallas Cowboys – Grant Delpit (S – LSU)
If Dallas lets Amari Cooper walk, this is an interesting landing spot for Higgins. Assuming they hang onto him, though, Dallas is expected to address the secondary or their defensive line.

#18 – Miami Dolphins (via PIT) – Kristian Fulton (CB – LSU)
The Dolphins have so many needs and so many early picks that this could go any direction from offensive line to edge or perhaps even a running back. I’m banking on them just grabbing the best player available.

#19 – Oakland Raiders (via CHI) – Xavier McKinney (S – Alabama)
Oakland would do well to move back to the late first to grab Kenneth Murray. If they don’t, you can expect them to take the top secondary asset available.

#20 – Jacksonville Jaguars (via LAR) – CJ Henderson (CB – Florida)
The Jags are in an interesting spot as they could move up for Kinlaw, a safety, or perhaps even trade back for a linebacker or guard. Henderson is a big physical man on man corner ready to compete in the NFL.

#21 – Philadelphia Eagles – Tee Higgins (WR – Clemson)
Higgins could potentially end up within the top 10 picks if a team falls in love with him. He is a bit raw but possesses every skill NFL teams look for. Linebacker and secondary are also primary needs for Philly.

#22 – Buffalo Bills – Neville Gallimore (IDL – Oklahoma)
The Bills have two pressing needs: run-stopping and a young playmaker to plug in opposite of John Brown. Shenault would be the ideal fit but he is unlikely to fall so defensive line it is.

#23 – New England Patriots – Raekwon Davis (IDL – Alabama)
Unless Tom Brady is no longer part of the team, I have a tough time imagining New England going any other way here. More likely, they trade back and still end up with the lengthy Davis.

#24 – New Orleans Saints – Jalen Hurts (QB – Oklahoma)
This isn’t forecasting Drew Brees to retire, but it will happen soon and all of their QBs are free agents. Hurts is both accurate and dangerous with his legs. He could be plugged in and succeed for a playoff team now.

#25 – Minnesota Vikings – Bryce Hall (CB – Virginia)
This is the most challenging team to pick for as their needs don’t match their draft spot. That makes them a prime candidate to trade, but if not, we could see them add a polished corner like Hall.

#26 – Miami Dolphins (via HOU) – K’Lavon Chaisson (Edge – LSU)
Many are proclaiming Chaisson to be a potential top 10 pick. He does ooze upside but is quite raw and may slide to a team like Miami who has time to wait and see what he will become.

#27 – Seattle Seahawks – Tyler Biadasz (IOL – Wisconsin)
The Seahawks don’t mess around in the draft. They’ll take a player projected to go in the 3rd round at pick #27 if they love him. Biadasz is a coach’s dream with his makeup and just happens to fit their biggest need.

#28 – Baltimore Ravens – Justin Jefferson (WR – LSU)
The Ravens could also use a linebacker but they seem almost certain to take a wideout here. With Marquise Brown already stretching the field, Ruggs and Reagor aren’t options. Shenault would be perfect.

#29 – Tennessee Titans – Jonathan Taylor (RB – Wisconsin)
Yes, I’m expecting Tennessee to pass on a 400-touch RB demanding 90 million dollars. Taylor isn’t Henry, but he may be the closest direct replacement and Tennesse doesn’t have many needs.

#30 – Green Bay Packers – Jalen Reagor (WR – TCU)
It is almost a foregone conclusion that Green Bay will add a wideout opposite of Davante Adams. The playmaker, Reagor, would be a dream come true if he fell to pick #30.

#31 – San Francisco 49ers – Solomon Kindley (IOL – Georgia)
The 49ers don’t have a single pressing need but are likely to bulk up their depth on the offensive line or secondary. Kindley has potential galore and should help in run-blocking from day one.

#32 – Kansas City Chiefs – Jeff Gladney (CB – TCU)
The Chiefs could use some help in the run-stuffing department but with a polished and reliable corner like Gladney available to them, it is tough to imagine them passing him up.
