The sudden and tragic passing of Kobe Bryant, his daughter, and all of the passengers involved in the helicopter crash on Sunday sent shockwaves through the NBA players, families, and fans. Many touching tributes were witnessed during Sunday’s games and plenty more will assuredly follow on Monday night’s six-game slate. Emotions will run high on Monday night as many players take the court for the first time since the accident and there is no way of knowing how those emotions will affect everyone’s individual performance. Here are some potential DFS options for DraftKings on Monday night.
Note that some of the stats referenced in this article are my custom defense versus position (DvP) calculations that combines data from the season and last five games along with blending similar positions production allowed together.

One Stud
Luka Doncic (PG – DAL): $11,900 @ OKC
There is a bunch of value on Monday’s slate which opens up a “Stars and Scars” lineup construction which puts two high-priced studs on the list for tonight. Doncic has only put up 46 and 51 DraftKings points in his last two outings but he gets a favorable matchup in what should be a close game against the Thunder. The Thunder have allowed increased production in points (+3.0%), rebounds (+3.7%), and assists (+10.8%) to point guards this season and Doncic dropped 35 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists against them in a previous meeting.

Karl-Anthony Towns (C – MIN): $10,300 vs. SAC
Towns looks like a man on a mission since returning from injury. He has scored at least 28 points in each of his last four games which have included 37 and 40-point efforts. Towns has topped 50 DK points in each of the last four games and has a strong game environment on Monday against the Kings with a tight Vegas line and the highest Vegas point total on the board.
Core Plays
LaMarcus Aldridge (PF/C – SA): $7,200 @ CHI
Aldridge cooled off a little bit in his last game with a tough matchup against the Raptors, but he was on a roll prior to that outing reaching at least 34 DK points in five straight games. Aldridge should get back on track on Monday with a juicy matchup against the Bulls who have allowed huge production to opposing big men across the boards including secondary stats like steals and blocks.
Eric Gordon (SG/SF – HOU): $6,900 @ UTH
It sounds like the Rockets might be without both James Harden and Russell Westbrook for Monday’s matchup with the Jazz. This would open up a ton of opportunities for the players remaining including Gordon. Gordon has witnessed a massive usage bump (+15.8%) with both star players off the court this season. Gordon has played well over his last three games averaging 23.7 points per night which should rise with increase shot volume on Monday night.
Value Plays
Thaddeus Young (PF – CHI): $4,900 vs. SA
Young has moved into a bigger role for the Bulls with the loss of Lauri Markkanen. Young has averaged 32 minutes in his last two games while putting up 10.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. He should continue to get significant run on Monday against the Spurs who have given up a slight bump in production to power forwards in points (+2.3%), rebounds (+2.3%), and assists (+14.1%).
Reggie Jackson (PG – DET): $4,300 vs. CLE
Jackson has played very well in his first two games back from injury with 18.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game while playing just 19 and 23 minutes respectively. After getting a game off on Saturday, look for Jackson to get back into the mix on Monday against the Cavaliers. His playing time should continue to climb in a plus matchup as he offers good value for your lineup.
Danuel House Jr. (SF/PF – HOU): $3,900 / Austin Rivers (PF/SG – HOU): $3,600 @ UTH
The absence of Harden and Westbrook will also open up big minutes for House and Rivers and their dirt-cheap salaries. House has topped 20 DK points in back-to-back games while getting 27 minutes in each outing. Meanwhile, Rivers has reached double-digit points in three straight games while putting up over 22 DK points in each of those efforts. Both players should get a bump in minutes and usage to exceed their recent production on Monday.
Tyler Herro (SG – MIA): $5,000 / Dion Waiters (SG/SF – MIA): 3,500 vs. ORL
Keep a close eye on the Miami injury news leading up to game time with Jimmy Butler, Kendrick Nunn, and Goran Dragic all questionable to play. In the last game when that trio missed time, Herro played 40 minutes on his way to 19 points and four rebounds. Meanwhile, Waiters saw his first action of the season playing 18 minutes while posting 14 points and four rebounds for 25.5 DK points. Both players would be in play again on Monday against the Magic if at least two of the three questionable Heat players remain out.
