Players to Buy

Le’Veon Bell (RB – NYJ)
Have you looked at the Jets upcoming schedule? They’re going to play against the Dolphins, Giants, Redskins, Raiders, Bengals, and then the Dolphins again. That’s the remainder of the fantasy regular season AND the first week of the fantasy playoffs. Bell shouldn’t have a game outside the top-20 running backs during that stretch. This is the time to buy him wherever you can.

Davante Adams (WR – GB)
There are likely some teams out there who are suffering without their WR1 in the lineup, leading them to make trades they didn’t want to make. You should be the one there to talk to them about some options that can help them right now. The truth is that Adams will be back soon, and will resume as Aaron Rodgers‘ No. 1 option immediately.

Melvin Gordon (RB – LAC)
The perceived value of Gordon is fairly low right now, but it’s not likely to last long. With matchups against the Packers, Raiders, and Chiefs coming up, we should see his value spike in the right direction. The Chargers did get left tackle Russell Okung back last week, which should start to help push the run-game in the right direction.

Allen Robinson (WR – CHI)
Some are concerned that Robinson will be able to keep up with his borderline WR1 production with how bad Mitch Trubisky has looked, but if anything, that should give you hope. If Trubisky starts to play similar to the way he did last year, Robinson’s stock can only go up. On top of that, the Bears defense has looked like a shell of its former self without defensive tackle Akeim Hicks there to plug the middle of the line, which has led to more pass attempts than the Bears would like, though they haven’t had much of a choice. Robinson should be considered a top-18 option at wide receiver.

Zach Ertz (TE – PHI)
It’s ugly for sure, but the vitals are good for Ertz. He has a top-tier quarterback, plays for a team that generates a lot of pass attempts, and has received plenty of targets. In fact, he still leads the tight end position in targets. He’s also totaled at least 54 yards in 6-of-8 games. There are plenty of owners out there who feel the pain of drafting Ertz inside the top three rounds and not getting their money’s worth. This is the time to pounce for one of the eight tight ends you can just stick in your lineup no matter the matchup.

Tom Brady (QB – NE)
There are many die-hard fantasy football players who refused to draft Brady at his advanced age. While he might be the best of all-time, being great in fantasy was something much different. If you were one of those people, you need to get over it quickly and make a trade for Brady. Despite outscoring their opponents nearly four to one and knowing how well the defense has played, Brady has averaged near 40 pass attempts per game. Because of that, he’s constantly in the QB1 conversation. If you can move someone like Kyler Murray for him, you should.

Christian Kirk (WR – ARI)
Not many realize that Kirk has been targeted more than Larry Fitzgerald when on the field. On top of that, we’ve watched Fitzgerald deteriorate as the year’s gone on, which should be expected with a 36-year-old. It also helps that Kirk runs over half of his routes from in the slot, which doesn’t allow the top cornerbacks to shadow him, as most don’t travel into that area of the field. When you can get a receiver who’s caught at least six passes and seen seven-plus targets in 3-of-5 starts for WR4 prices, you should be buying.

Players to Sell

Todd Gurley (RB – LAR)
He’s now scored six touchdowns over the last four games, which could lead many to believe he’s back. The matchups have dictated a lot of that success, but the big part that many will miss is that the Rams are going to limit his snaps/touches since returning from the quad injury. In fact, Darrell Henderson finished Week 8 with more touches than Gurley. Sure, the game wasn’t all that close, but we would’ve seen Gurley get 20-plus touches in that same matchup last year. He’s still in the high-end RB2 conversation, but put the feelers out there to an RB-needy team.

Miles Sanders (RB – PHI)
There are many fantasy players who’ll just watch the Red Zone channel or look at the points a player has scored when analyzing a trade. If you have some in your league who do that, now is the time to sell Sanders. He’s totaled just 6-9-6 touches over the last three weeks, yet has managed to score 18-plus PPR points in 2-of-3 games. The talent is there for him to do damage in this offense, but with those touches, you shouldn’t count on it.

Jared Goff (QB – LAR)
After going through what was one of the best schedules in the NFL among quarterbacks, it’s time to rid yourself of Goff. He’s not been the same quarterback since Todd Gurley left the lineup last year, as evidenced by the 18 touchdowns he’s thrown over his last 16 games (playoffs included). That’s a full NFL season. He’s nothing more than a streamer in great matchups.

Kirk Cousins (QB – MIN)
He’s been really good the last month, leading many to believe he’s a starter in 1QB leagues, but truth be told, he just hit a really good stretch in his schedule. That won’t be the case in the coming weeks. The Chiefs have been a better pass defense than expected in their new scheme, and then it’s on to the Cowboys and Broncos, who’ve both been below-average matchups for quarterbacks. The Vikings are the second run-heaviest team in the NFL and Cousins is averaging just 26.9 pass attempts per game, which means efficiency is a must. He won’t have that in tough matchups.
