DraftKings MLB Lineup Advice: Friday (8/30)

There are a half-dozen hurlers with five-figure salaries tonight, and none of them are among the trio of highlighted arms. Instead, I suggest three pitchers who have the potential to punch above their salaries. The salary savings from the trio of pitchers I tout will allow for spending on a couple of big boppers as part of a three-man stack. They’re joined by teammates in a tough matchup with ample upside to roll the dice on.

Kyle Gibson (MIN): $9,500 at Tigers
Gibson’s struggled since the All-Star Break (ASB). In nine starts spanning 49.2 innings in the second half, he owns an ugly 5.26 ERA, per FanGraphs. The ERA is in stark contrast to his 3.75 xFIP and 4.19 SIERA, though. The biggest culprit for his discrepancy between his actual ERA and his ERA estimators is a 61.6% LOB%. Some positive regression to his strand rate will help him fix his ugly ERA. He has just the right opponent to begin turning things around against. The Tigers rank dead last in wRC+ (74) against righties and have the highest strikeout rate (26.8% K%) against them as well. He should get plenty of run support opposing Edwin Jackson, which enhances his odds of picking up fantasy points with the win. He has realistic 25-plus point fantasy upside tonight.
