Breaking News: Andrew Luck Retires, Lamar Miller Fear of Torn ACL

Per Adam Schefter, Andrew Luck has informed the Indianapolis Colts that he will retire and the Houston Texans fear Lamar Miller has suffered a torn ACL.

Fantasy Impact: Jacoby Brissett will assume the starting quarterback duties in Indianapolis and he immediately downgrades the fantasy value of all relevant players for the Colts as the offense will not be nearly as effective. Luck has tended to some major injuries the past few seasons, the most recent calf and high ankle issues that were threatening his status for Week 1. This is the biggest retirement news since Barry Sanders in 1998. If Luck does call it quits, he will finish his career with a 89.5 rating, 60.8 completion percentage, 171 touchdowns and 23,671 yards passing in 86 games with the Colts.

Fantasy Impact: At this point, it seems like just a formality for Miller, who looks likely to miss the entire season. Duke Johnson now takes over as the primary ball-carrier, and immediately vaults into the RB2 range, as he has enough size to hold down a featured role. The Texans will undoubtedly make a trade, but if you’re drafting this weekend, Johnson is your guy.
