Pitcher
Caleb Smith (MIA): $8,800 at CWS
Anytime we get a strikeout pitcher facing a swing-and-miss offense, we have to love him. Smith has been just that, as he has struck out 101 batters across 83 innings this season. That equates to a K rate north of 30 percent and pairs beautifully with a 3.47 ERA and 1.06 WHIP. Those numbers put him in play against anyone, but specifically the White Sox. Chicago currently ranks 24th in K rate, 25th in wOBA, 26th in OPS and 28th in runs scored.
Yu Darvish (CHC): $8,500 at SF
Darvish has been in a ton of my season-long articles at other sites and he’s finally putting up the numbers I’ve been waiting for. Over his last two starts, Darvish has pitched 12 scoreless innings while allowing just five baserunners and striking out 15 batters in that span. That absurd form has been going on for over a month now, with Darvish generating a 3.50 ERA and 0.85 WHIP over his last nine starts while striking out 59 batters across 54 innings. That means this price should be about $1,000 higher, especially in a matchup like this. Not only is Oracle Park arguably the best pitchers park in the Majors, the Giants also rank 22nd in runs scored, 27th in wOBA and 28th in OPS.
