Pitcher
Eduardo Rodriguez (BOS): $8,500 at BAL
Sure, an ace like Gerrit Cole finds himself in a beautiful matchup against Toronto tonight. However, his salary is very cumbersome, and there’s plenty of expensive bats to consider as well. Rodriguez helps balance your lineup from a salary cap point of view, and he has an encouraging draw to boot. “E-Rod” has been somewhat shaky this year while currently holding a 5.00 ERA. However, he has shown promise over the past month. He checks in as a strong -198 road favorite against a Baltimore offense that ranks 24th in wRC+ and 11th in strikeout rate at 23.8%.

Other Pitchers to consider: Gerrit Cole (HOU), Blake Snell (TB)
First Base
Daniel Murphy (COL): $4,000 vs. SD
Murphy and the Rockies headline the aforementioned expensive hitters to consider through all formats. The Colorado first baseman will enjoy the benefits of hitting in Coors Field against San Diego RHP Cal Quantrill – who holds a .444 wOBA split to left-handed bats in limited MLB innings. Needless to say, Murphy and company could feast tonight.
Other First Basemen to consider: Eric Hosmer (SD), Mark Canha (OAK)
Second Base
Ryan McMahon (COL): $3,300 vs. SD
Let’s keep it going with another Colorado left-handed bat. As mentioned in the previous write-up, Cal Quantrill has been generous to lefties this season (.444 wOBA split), which opens the door for McMahon to make some fantasy noise. The Rockies’ second baseman checks in with a reasonable mid-range salary that is attainable through all formats.
Other Second Basemen to consider: Derek Dietrich (CIN), Brock Holt (BOS)
Third Base
Jose Ramirez (CLE): $3,000 at DET
It’s no secret that Ramirez has struggled this season while currently holding a .200 average with four homers and 21 RBIs. However, the former All-Star’s salary has declined in the wake of those inconsistencies. Tonight makes for a favorable buy-low opportunity while stepping in against Detroit LHP Ryan Carpenter and his .426 wOBA split to right-handed bats. Ramirez and Francisco Lindor are in serious DFS consideration while Oscar Mercado and Jordan Luplow are worth monitoring as well.
Other Third Basemen to consider: Marwin Gonzalez (MIN), Brian Anderson (MIA)
Shortstop
Marcus Semien (OAK): $3,600 vs. SEA
Seattle LHP Marco Gonzalez has been all over the place recently, allowing five or more earned runs in three of his past five outings. That includes a miserable start against the Angels on June 2, where the Seattle lefty allowed 10 earned runs with only two strikeouts through 4.2 innings. Those struggles could persist against a righty-heavy Oakland club that hits southpaws reasonably well. Semien makes for a comfortable mid-range lift within that, holding strong contact/power upside.
Other Shortstops to consider: Manny Machado (SD), Tim Anderson (CWS)
Outfield
Charlie Blackmon (COL): $4,300 vs. SD
As mentioned earlier, it’s not a bad idea to pick on San Diego RHP Quantrill’s vulnerability to left-handed bats. Blackmon is on fire at the moment with 10 hits, four homers, nine RBIs, and five runs over his past four starts. He’ll have an excellent opportunity to keep that momentum in this dream matchup at hitter-friendly Coors Field.
Chad Pinder (OAK): $2,600 vs. SEA
This write-up stems from the previous write-up of Oakland shortstop Semien. As discussed in that spot, Seattle LHP Gonzales has been very shaky as of late. Pinder is a cheap filler who could take advantage while holding respectable numbers against left-handed pitching and some impressive exit velocity as well. He’s a confident bargain bat to help make room for the studs of this article.
Other Outfielders to consider: Khris Davis (OAK), David Dahl (COL), Wil Myers (SD), Hunter Renfroe (SD), Franmil Reyes (SD), Danny Santana (TEX)
