There are a bunch of high-priced aces on the mound Tuesday night for a 15-game MLB slate. However, I find myself dipping down a price tier on the hill to fill both of my pitching slots in cash games with a couple of hurlers in good spots. This opens up some salary to spend on bats that others might not have if they choose to roster one of the five-figure aces.
As always, be sure to pay close attention to the lineups when they are released and monitor the weather leading up to game time. For reference throughout the season, be sure to bookmark our overview of MLB Park Factors and how to Use Weather to Your Advantage in MLB DFS.

Brandon Woodruff (MIL): $9,300 @ SD
Despite a salary $2,600 lower than Justin Verlander, Woodruff comes close to the Astros ace in my model on Tuesday night with his matchup against the Padres in San Diego. Woodruff gets a favorable park adjustment and faces a Padres offense that has a .280 wOBA (27th), 75 wRC+ (28th), and 26.2% strikeout rate (2nd) when playing at home against a righty this season. He has pitched well in three of his last four starts which has included two double-digit strikeout performances. Number three could be on the way Tuesday night in San Diego.

Jack Flaherty (STL): $8,700 vs. MIA
Flaherty is in a similar spot that saw Miles Mikolas put up 21.9 DraftKings points on Monday night. Flaherty is at home where he has pitched significantly better than on the road this season with a 2.25 ERA while allowing just a .241 wOBA with a 29.0% strikeout rate. He’ll face a Marlins squad that has a .283 wOBA (29th), 76 wRC+ (29th), and a 24.8% strikeout rate (6th) against right-handed pitchers this season. Double-down in the mid-priced range at pitcher and just look at the bats we can get.

Hitters
Francisco Lindor (SS – CLE): $5,300 @ TEX
Lindor extended his hitting streak to six games on Monday with two hits including a homer against the Rangers. He will look to continue his streak in the heat of Texas on Tuesday against Rangers right-hander Adrian Sampson. Sampson served up four homers in his last start while Lindor has posted a .430 wOBA and .273 ISO on the road against righties this season. The Indians have the highest Vegas implied run total on the slate.
Mookie Betts (OF – BOS): $4,800 @ MIN
Betts’s matchup sets up nicely for him on Tuesday as his reverse splits pair well with the reverse splits of Twins right-hander Michael Pineda. Betts has posted a .390 wOBA and .225 ISO against righties this season, while Pineda has allowed a .359 wOBA and 2.01 HR/9 to right-handed bats for the year. Betts has also had some success against Pineda in the past going 7-for-23 with two doubles and a pair of long balls, not to mention four steals. Good weather conditions in Minnesota could add to Betts upside potential.
Juan Soto (OF – WAS): $4,100 vs. PHI
Soto and the Nationals got washed out by rain on Monday and could again on Tuesday. However, if the game plays, Soto is a great option just like yesterday when I wrote… Soto is 3-for-6 with a double and two homers off righty Jake Arrieta in his career. However, that is not the only thing Soto has going for him on Tuesday night. He has a .348 average with a homer over his last six games and has posted a .391 wOBA and .217 ISO at home against righties this season. Meanwhile, Arrieta has allowed a .438 wOBA and 3.79 HR/9 to lefties on the road this year.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (3B – TOR): $3,800 vs. LAA
There is a variety of solid 3B options around the $4k price range including Matt Chapman, Jose Ramirez, and Matt Carpenter, but give me the youngster Guerrero at home against a lefty. That lefty is Tyler Skaggs who has allowed 12 runs over his last 16 innings and has allowed a .367 wOBA and 1.98 HR/9 to right-handed hitters on the road this season. Meanwhile, Guerrero has posted a .366 wOBA and .200 ISO at home against southpaws this year.
Robinson Cano (2B – NYM): $3,100 @ ATL
You should save salary at 2B on Tuesday by rostering either Cano or Jason Kipnis. I’ll give the slight edge to Cano who has come out of the gates hot since returning from the IL with a double and a homer through two games. Cano has a solid .336 wOBA and .197 ISO against righties this season and will face Braves right-hander Julio Teheran who has been more generous to hitters from the left side of the plate this season including a .319 wOBA at home. Cano is 2-for-5 with a double against Teheran during his career.
