Tuesday night bring us a full 15-game slate on the MLB diamonds. As with big slates, there are about a million different ways to consider when building your lineups and choosing between players with similar price points. I have chiseled away on the player pool to sharpen up the top options to consider on the mound and at the plate.
As always, be sure to pay close attention to the lineups when they are released and monitor the weather leading up to game time. For reference throughout the season, be sure to bookmark our overview of MLB Park Factors and how to Use Weather to Your Advantage in MLB DFS.

Pitchers
James Paxton (NYY): $10,100 vs. NYM
While Paxton’s inning count remained around four in his last start as he ramps up since returning from injury, his pitch count increased to 83 which should bode well for him to resume throwing around 100 pitches in Tuesday night’s matchup with the Mets at Yankees Stadium. Paxton has been sharp at home in his first season in pinstripes with a 0.34 ERA accompanied by a .170 wOBA and no homers allowed in 26 2/3 innings (five starts). He has also shut down Mets hitters in limited plate appearances (33) allowing just a .199 wOBA with a 39.4% strikeout rate. Look for the return of Paxton to ace status on Tuesday.

Dakota Hudson (STL): $6,200 @ MIA
The second pitcher slot on DraftKings is a toss-up between Hudson and John Means for me on Tuesday night. I think that Means has a little more upside pitching at home against the Blue Jays, but Hudson might be a little safer with a higher floor in his matchup with the Marlins in Miami. Plus, Hudson can save you a few extra bucks to spend on bats. The Marlins have hit better over the last month compared to their year-to-date numbers, but they did just get shut down by Michael Wacha on Monday, so I’ll look for Hudson to duplicate that effort at a nice, low salary.

Hitters
Mookie Betts (OF – BOS): $4,800 vs. TEX
Betts has four hits over his last three games including a couple of doubles. I’ll be looking for him to turn those doubles into homers on Tuesday with a matchup at home against Rangers right-hander Ariel Jurado. Jurado has reverse splits this season allowing a .365 wOBA and 2.08 HR/9 to righties. Meanwhile, Betts has demonstrated some reverse splits of his own this year with a .392 wOBA and .222 ISO against right-handed pitching.
Alex Bregman (3B – HOU): $4,500 vs. MIL
Tuesday feels like the perfect spot to stack up some underpriced Astros hitters playing at home against the Brewers righty Freddy Peralta. Peralta has had an up and down season as he has bounced in and out of the Brewers rotation. He has allowed a 1.64 HR/9 rate this season. Bregman has crushed right-handed pitching this season with a .402 wOBA and .270 ISO and is priced as low as you will see him at just $4,500.
Luke Voit (1B – NYY): $4,400 vs. NYM
With the rain out on Monday, the Yankees and Mets will partake in a doubleheader on Tuesday. The nightcap has Mets lefty Jason Vargas taking the hill. Voit has exploited left-handed pitching during his career, especially at home, with a .402 wOBA and .377 ISO. Vargas has served up a .361 wOBA on the road this year and the weather conditions should be conducive to hitting on Tuesday night in New York.
Corey Seager (SS – LAD): $4,300 @ LAA
Seager is going to keep making my recommendation list until he either cools off or his salary escalates. He collected another hit on Monday to extend his current hitting streak to eight games. During the streak, Seager is batting .424 with seven doubles and a homer. He has posted a .378 wOBA and .260 ISO against righties this season and will get another one on Tuesday with the Angels trotting Felix Pena out to the mound. Pena gave up seven runs in his last start and has allowed a .371 wOBA to lefties at home this season.
Ian Desmond (OF – COL): $4,100 vs. CHC
It took all the way to end of my core hitters list to mention Coors Field but with so many good hitting spots, it feels like a slate where you don’t need to force in the high-priced Cubs and Rockies bats. Still, consider getting a piece of the game with a cheaper option like Desmond who has a .400 wOBA and .333 ISO against lefties at home this season. He’ll face Cubs southpaw Jose Quintana who has allowed a .385 wOBA to righties on the road this season. Desmond has also hit Quintana well in his nine plate appearances going 4-for-7 with three doubles and two walks.
