It’s Week 8 of the fantasy baseball season, and the injury report is here to keep you updated as you set your lineups.
Zack Greinke (SP – ARI) had to come out of his last start with tightness in his abdomen. The results of his MRI showed no significant damage. He threw a bullpen session Saturday and is expected to make his next start on Tuesday.
Nelson Cruz (DH – MIN) has a strain in his left wrist and hit the 10-day injured list May 17, retroactive to May 14. He does not currently have a timetable set for his return. The 38-year-old has a .270/.354/.508 slash line through 35 games.
George Springer (OF – MIN) had to be removed from Sunday’s game with lower back tightness. He is currently listed as day-to-day and will probably at least be held out of Monday’s lineup.
Here are a few more injuries to track this week.

Masahiro Tanaka (SP – NYY)
Tanaka left Saturday’s start with a contusion on his right shin after getting hit by a comebacker. X-rays were negative, but it is not clear if he will make his next scheduled start.
Michael Conforto (OF – NYM)
Conforto was placed on the 7-day injured list with a concussion sustained last Thursday. He might be able to return in late May.
Anibal Sanchez (SP – WAS)
The Nationals placed Sanchez on the 10-day injured list Friday with a left hamstring strain. He could possibly return before the end of the month.
Mitch Garver (C – MIN)
Garver has a high ankle sprain and went on the 10-day injured list May 15. He’s expected to miss two to three weeks.
Kenta Maeda (SP – LAD)
Maeda had a contusion on his thigh that is technically listed as an adductor contusion. He hit the injured list May 17 and is expected to only miss one start. He could return as soon as this Sunday to face the Pirates.
Aaron Sanchez (SP – TOR)
Sanchez left Friday’s start after three innings because of a blister on the middle finger of his right hand. He is currently listed as day-to-day, but blisters have been a recurring issue for the 26-year-old righty.
Ender Inciarte (OF – ATL)
Inciarte hit the injured list May 15 with back tightness. He currently does not have a timetable to return, but this is obviously big news as the Braves called up Austin Riley, the immediate beneficiary for fantasy purposes.
Travis Shaw (1B/2B/3B – MIL)
Milwaukee placed Shaw on the 10-day injured list May 14 with a right wrist sprain. He took swings in a batting cage over the weekend and is expected to begin a rehab assignment Wednesday. He could return to the Brewers sometime this week, but it remains to be seen if he’ll reclaim his starting job from the recently promoted Keston Hiura.
Elvis Andrus (SS – TEX)
A hamstring strain resulted in Texas placing Andrus on the 10-day IL last Wednesday. He does not currently have a timetable for his return.
Yandy Diaz (3B – TB)
Diaz left Sunday’s game after getting hit by a pitch. He was diagnosed with a left-hand contusion, but X-rays came back negative. He is currently day-to-day.
Yasiel Puig (OF – CIN)
Puig had to be removed from Sunday’s game after running into the foul wall while making a catch. He has an elbow injury and is currently listed as day-to-day, but the Reds hope he can avoid an IL stint.
Trevor Williams (SP – PIT)
Williams was placed on the 10-day injured list Friday with a strain on his right side. The Pirates will shut him down for 10 days before re-evaluating him.
Updating Previous Injuries
Fernando Tatis Jr. (SS – SD): Hamstring
Although it looked like Tatis would return after the minimum amount of time on the injured list, the hamstring injury has kept him out a couple of weeks. The most updated report shows that the rookie is still not running, but he might be able to return sometime within the next week.
Andrew Heaney (SP – LAA): Elbow
Heaney has been on the injured list all season will elbow inflammation. He threw 58 pitches in extended spring training Wednesday and is expected to make a Triple-A rehab start on Monday. If all goes well, he could return to the Angels by the end of May.
James Paxton (SP – NYY): Knee
On the injured list since May 4, Paxton threw several bullpen sessions over the last week. He could return as early as this week.
Jose Altuve (2B – HOU): Hamstring
Altuve has been on the 10-day injured list since May 12 with a mild strain in his left hamstring. He should soon start a rehab assignment and could return to the Astros shortly after the minimum.
Mike Clevinger (SP – CLE): Back
Clevinger, on the injured list since April 14 with an upper back strain, threw a bullpen session Friday and appears to be close to a rehab assignment. It looks like he could possibly return in June.
