It feels like a “Stars and Scrubs” night when putting together your DraftKings MLB lineups for Wednesday night’s nine-game slate. There is definitely a high-priced ace on the hill worth rostering along with a few high-priced studs at the plate you will want to squeeze in. Luckily, there appears to be some good value to pair with the high-priced studs to make your lineup work.
As always, be sure to pay close attention to the lineups when they are released and monitor the weather leading up to game time. For reference throughout the season, be sure to bookmark our overview of MLB Park Factors and how to Use Weather to Your Advantage in MLB DFS.

Pitchers
Blake Snell (TB): $11,300 vs. TOR
Snell is far and away the top pitching option on the slate as a big home favorite against the Blue Jays. For the season, the Jays rank 28th in wOBA (.275), 27th in wRC+ (70), and have the 10th highest strikeout rate (25.2%) against right-handed pitching this season. Meanwhile, Snell has allowed a total of four runs over his last four starts combined while racking up 37 strikeouts in 24 1/3 innings in those outings. Plug in Snell in every cash game lineup.

Pablo Lopez (MIA): $6,600 vs. SF
One of the reasons you can use Snell is because of the value you can get in your second pitching slot with Lopez. Lopez has been lights out at home in Miami this season, sporting a 1.93 ERA while allowing just a .200 wOBA in four starts. He is in a good spot to succeed again at home on Wednesday with the Giants in town. The Giants have a mere .284 wOBA (28th) and 77 wRC+ (28th) against righties this season with a 24.0% strikeout rate (11th). Lopez has sneaky strikeout upside with a 29.9% strikeout rate in his home starts this year.

Hitters
Nolan Arenado (3B – COL): $5,600 vs. ARI
We’ll start our Stars and Scrubs lineup build with Arenado at home in Coors Field facing a lefty. Anytime you see that scenario, Arenado becomes a must-start. On Wednesday, he’ll battle a familiar foe with Robbie Ray taking the mound for the Diamondbacks. Arenado has had no problems hitting Ray over his career batting .382 with five doubles and three homers in 34 at-bats. That should come as no surprise with Arenado’s career .488 wOBA and .381 at home against southpaws and Ray’s propensity to give up a lot of hard contact including a 43.4% rate to righties this year.
Austin Meadows (OF – TB): $5,600 vs. TOR
The second high-priced stud bat to consider comes down to Meadows and Eduardo Escobar. I’ll give the edge to Meadows who is absolutely on fire right now with home runs in three straight games and 12 total hits over his last five outings. He has a .482 wOBA and .374 ISO against right-handed pitchers this season and will face Blue Jays righty Trent Thornton. Thornton has allowed a .343 wOBA to lefties this year and served up a pair of homers to Meadows in a previous start this season.
Trea Turner (SS – WAS): $4,400 @ ATL
Turner is coming off a three-hit game on Tuesday while he also swiped his seventh base of the season. He continues to hit leadoff for the Nationals and saw his salary dip a couple hundred bucks heading into Wednesday’s matchup against Kevin Gausman. Turner is 4-for-8 with a double and a steal off Gausman in his career and he’ll get favorable weather conditions in Atlanta with warm temps.
Starlin Castro (2B – MIA): $2,500 vs. SF
Second base is a perfect position, along with catcher (see below), to plug in a cheap option to open up your roster to get in some big sticks. Castro is dirt cheap on Wednesday and has been hitting pretty well recently with at least one hit in seven of his last eight games. He has a .345 wOBA against lefties this season and will face a familiar foe with southpaw Madison Bumgarner toeing the rubber for the Giants. Castro is batting .424 with three doubles against Bumgarner in 33 career at-bats.
Will Smith (C – LAD): $2,000 vs. NYM
Why am I writing about catchers for the second straight day? Well, it is because Smith might hold the key to unlock your entire lineup to achieve the Stars and Scrubs approach. The min-priced backstop for the Dodgers went 2-for-4 with a double and run in his big-league debut on Tuesday. He could get the call again on Wednesday with Austin Barnes on the injured list and Smith’s strong debut performance.
