Another big Tuesday night slate with 14 games on the main DraftKings MLB slate. There are quite a few strong pitching options on the bump, but I’d recommend forgoing the five-figure salary aces and settle into the next tier of pitchers instead, so you have some money leftover for bats. That is because finding deep value at the plate is a challenge on this slate at some positions.
As always, be sure to pay close attention to the lineups when they are released and monitor the weather leading up to game time. For reference throughout the season, be sure to bookmark our overview of MLB Park Factors and how to Use Weather to Your Advantage in MLB DFS.

Pitchers
German Marquez (COL): $9,200 @ PIT
Is Marquez pitching at home or on the road is just about the only thing you need to look at for the right-hander. Whenever he is on the road, then I have an interest in his elite stuff. This season he has posted a 2.55 ERA with a .223 wOBA allowed and a 26.7% strikeout rate on the road in five starts. Last season he sported a 2.95 ERA with a .265 wOBA allowed and a 28.3% strikeout rate away from Coors Field. He’ll take his skills on the road Tuesday night as the Rockies visit the Pirates in a pitcher-friendly environment. The Pirates rank in the bottom third of the league in wOBA and wRC+ against righties this season.

Eduardo Rodriguez (BOS): $8,900 @ TOR
Rodriguez should have some positive regression coming his way as he is currently getting done in by a .364 BABIP and an ERA (4.89) that is almost a run and half higher than his xFIP (3.55). Some of that correction could come on Tuesday against the Blue Jays who have a .268 wOBA ( 28th), 66 wRC+ (29th), and a 25.3% strikeout rate (12th) against left-handed pitching this season. Rodriguez and the Red Sox are a small road favorite which gives him win potential along with his high strikeout possibilities.

Hitters
Trea Turner (SS – WAS): $4,700 @ NYM
Shortstop is one of those positions where I think you need to pay up on this slate. Consider guys like Gleyber Torres and Paul DeJong, along with Turner. Turner is the cheapest of that trio and pinching a few pennies with Turner might be needed on this slate. He is still working to get back in a groove at the plate and on the bases since returning from injury four games ago. He has still managed to collect four hits with a couple of runs and a steal in his four starts. Turner will face right-hander Zach Wheeler who he has hit .375 against with two extra-base hits and two steals in 16 career at-bats.
Jay Bruce (1B/OF – SEA): $4,400 @ TEX
I love it when all the stars align for a hitter as they do for Bruce on Tuesday. He is playing in a game with a great hitting environment in Texas. The game features the highest Vegas total on the slate and has a very hitter-friendly umpire behind the plate. Bruce has crushed righties on the road this season with a .384 wOBA and .403 ISO and will get Rangers right-hander Lance Lynn Tuesday night. Bruce has also had a lot of success against Lynn over his career batting .385 with three homers in 39 career at-bats. The signs are there for a big night from Bruce.
Matt Carpenter (1B/3B – STL): $4,200 vs. KC
Anytime Homer Bailey is starting you must have some interest in getting exposure to his opponent. That opponent on Tuesday is the Cardinals in St. Louis. While I have interest in guys like DeJong and Yadier Molina, Carpenter has the most reasonable salary and some positional flexibility to make work in your cash game lineup. He has four hits over his last three starts including a couple of extra-base hits. He’ll occupy his usual leadoff spot against Bailey who he has gone 20-for-45 off with four doubles and a homer over his career.
Kyle Schwarber (OF – CHC): $3,600 vs. PHI
Schwarber has performed well since moving to the leadoff spot for the Cubs. He has a hit in four straight games including a triple and a homer, yet his salary remains depressed on DraftKings. He’ll face the Phillies right-hander Zach Eflin who has allowed a .338 wOBA and 1.99 HR/9 to left-handed hitters this season. The weather isn’t ideal for hitters in Chicago on Tuesday, but we need value somewhere and a power-hitting leadoff man is a good place to get it.
Kendrys Morales (1B – NYY): $3,600 @ BAL
Morales went hitless in the first game of the series against the Orioles, but I’m willing to go right back to him on Tuesday in another favorable matchup. The Yankees have one of the highest Vegas implied run totals on the slate against righty David Hess. Hess has allowed seven home runs to Yankees hitters in his three starts against them this season. Morales looks to join the Yankees hit parade with a 4-for-8 mark against Hess in his career with a homer.
