We have passed the quarter-season mark which means it time for updated rankings. Each week, I’ve been running through one or a few positions with updates but this week, I’ve got my top 420 overall rankings for you. If you want to tab through and see position by position, you can do that too. Next week, I’ll turn my attention to the upcoming MLB draft before diving head first into prospects and dynasty rankings the following couple weeks. We’ll get to the rankings in a moment, but first I’ll tell you about four players I am especially bullish on the rest of the season compared to their consensus rankings.

Adalberto Mondesi (KC – 2B/SS): #10 overall
You may be extremely uncomfortable with this ranking, but the fact of the matter is that over the last five months of fantasy baseball, there has been no player more useful than Mondesi. In that time, he leads the majors with 44 steals, also swatted 18 homers, 69 RBIs, 64 runs and is batting .285. Folks, that’s just 107 games, so over a full season, his pace is 27 HR, 67 SB, 104 RBIs, 97 Rs. He may not be as safe as Nolan Arenado or Max Scherzer but we are talking about someone with as much fantasy potential as even Mike Trout.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (TOR – OF): #36 overall
Even while Vlad was deep in his struggles, I haven’t flinched with this ranking. Granted, it was much lower while he was injured and stuck in the minors but we aren’t talking about a raw prospect with question marks. Rather, we are looking at the single best prospect in 30 years: better than Bryce Harper and Mike Trout, Miguel Cabrera and Albert Pujols, Alex Rodriguez and Ken Griffey Jr. This isn’t a drill and it’s not hyperbole, he batted .343/.416/.593/1.009 in Triple-A. The kid is ready, and while he will go through slumps like any other hitter (see Trout: .225/.360/.425 in last 50 PA), Vlad Jr. is already one of the most complete hitters in baseball. Buy low if you can.
Shohei Ohtani (LAA – UTL): #72 overall
It is time we start talking about Ohtani as one of the best hitters in the world. Frankly, the time was last year when his wOBA was higher than Ronald Acuna, Manny Machado, Freddie Freeman, Francisco Lindor and Matt Carpenter. In a 400 PA sample size, Ohtani’s full-season pace is 33 HRs, 14 SB, 97 RBIs, 90 R and a .286 batting average. If he plays every day, that is a second round fantasy asset, and folks, the Angels have him batting third every game right now. If you are looking for a league-winner, he has arrived.
Scooter Gennett (CIN – 2B): #126 overall
We are still three or four weeks away from Scooter returning to the club in Cincinnati so his trade market price hasn’t recovered to where it belongs. In fact, 49% of owners have already released him. Chances are, you can put in an offer right now to nab one of the best offensive middle infielders in the game before he helps get you another championship. Don’t believe me about him being among the best? Over the last two calendar years, he has a higher slugging percentage than Bryce Harper and George Springer. In the same time period, he has a better batting average than Mike Trout and Mookie Betts. Gennett has more RBIs than Freddie Freeman and Aaron Judge. I wasn’t joking.
