Yesterday, after all the plates were cleared and a little too much dessert consumed, my family knuckled down for a game of Monopoly (Disney Edition). The winner (not me) was victorious owning just one set — the greens — and nothing else. Money was invested wisely and generated a great return. The analogy for today: buy one expensive item and build around it.
Despite ten games on Wednesday’s main slate, there are just three players whose salaries are over $10k. One of them is recommended in today’s list. My focus in today’s suggestions is to go with one of those top options and build a complimentary roster. As usual, to keep myself honest, the combined salary need to be less than FanDuel’s $60k budget. This week I scrape in with $800 to spare; enough for a few Monopoly houses at least.

Point Guard
Reggie Jackson (DET): $5,500 vs. WAS
Jackson is enjoying a bit of a surge, averaging 25.9 FPTS over his last four games. The Pistons have a winnable matchup against the Wizards, but not one that they’ll run away with, which will keep Jackson involved throughout.
Tyus Jones (MIN): $4,400 @ CHI
Jones will see another start on Wednesday, with both Derrick Rose (ankle) and Jeff Teague (ankle) sidelined. Jones started on the 23rd and accumulated 22 FPTS against the Thunder, playing for 31 minutes. He’s a good bet to generate a higher total against the Bulls, whose defenses is considerably less robust.

Shooting Guard
Monte Morris (DEN): $5,700 @ SA
Morris has been an efficient option seemingly all season. He’s worth playing on Wednesday, as he should tally between 30 and 35 FPTS. Morris is a player whose value will continue to rise, and he’s always worth considering as a lineup option.
Evan Fournier (ORL): $5,700 vs. PHO
Fournier has been a solid option of late, generating 30+ FPTS in three of his last four games. He has led the Magic in scoring in their last two games, averaging 20.5 points. He should be able to build on that streak against a weak Suns defense.
Small Forward
Harrison Barnes (DAL): $6,000 vs. NO
Barnes has seen at least 33 minutes in each of his last four games, averaging 22.5 points across that span. He has scored double-digit points in every game this season. While his production is largely points-based, he gets enough rebounds, plus a smattering of other categories, to be more than a one-stat player. Barnes has averaged 30 FPTS over his last four games, ranging from 19.7 to 40. 8 FPTS. So while there’s volatility, there is also upside.
Rudy Gay (SA): $6,200 vs. DEN
Gay has averaged 30.4 FPTS over his last four games and has hit 40+ twice in his last eight. He regularly generates double-digit points and is a good source for rebounds and steals. His defensive stats are lacking, but his upside potential and safe floor make him a solid play.
Power Forward
Anthony Davis (NO): $12,500 @ DAL
Davis has the highest salary of the night but is worth it. He’s averaging 61.5 FPTS this season, whereas the second-best average in Wednesdays’ rosters is Kawhi Leonard with 46.6 FPTS. In his last four games, Davis has tallied between 56.7 and 69.4 FPTS, with a double-double in each. On Wednesday, Davis sees a Dallas defense he toasted for 64.3 FPTS on December 5th.
Thaddeus Young (IND): $5,900 @ ATL
Young continues to be a good mid-priced value who should put up good numbers against the Hawks on Wednesday, as he’s seeing around 30 minutes per game, averaging 30.7 FPTS over his last four. Back on the December 12thand 14th, Young racked up 60.2 and 48.5 FPTS, in a week in which he was Eastern Conference Player of the Week. The upside is there then.
Center
Myles Turner (IND): $7,300 @ ATL
On December 23rd, Myles Turner snagged a career-high 17 rebounds, but this is no anomaly, as he’s secured a points-rebounds double-double in his last four games. He’s also been a good source of blocks, averaging 4.0 over his last four games. Turner is generating excellent value right now and should be in line for another productive night against an Atlanta team which, though improving, is still ranked near the bottom on defense. Turner is a player on the rise. Take advantage.
