Early Waiver Wire Pickups for Week 14 (Fantasy Football)

And that does it – the end of another fantasy football regular season. Most of you reading this are heading into the fantasy playoffs and you may need to make some moves before the first round kicks off.  The bulk of Week 13 action is in the books and already we have some early waiver wire pickups for fantasy owners to check out to get a jump on the competition for Week 14.

The waiver pickups are bare bones this week and the options are definitely less than exciting, but those are the brakes sometimes. Let’s take a look at early suggestions for your waiver wire, including the player’s Yahoo! ownership and upcoming schedule. Players listed here typically have under 30% ownership. Enjoy!

Running Backs

Jeff Wilson Jr. (RB – SF): 1% owned
Matt Breida left Week 13 in the third quarter with another knee injury and Wilson had himself a day with 134 combined yards from scrimmage. He’s passed Alfred Morris on the depth chart and he should be a very valuable addition this late in the season. Grab him while you can.
Next three weeks: DEN, SEA, CHI

Ty Montgomery (RB – BAL): 18% owned
That’s back to back weeks with over 50 scrimmage yards and Gus Edwards is still dealing with an injury. Monty should be well involved in the remaining games as Baltimore’s pass-catching specialist out of the backfield. The Ravens’ final three games are a RB’s dream.
Next three weeks: @KC, TB, LAC

Damien Williams (RB – KC)24% owned
He totaled 45 total yards compared to Spencer Ware‘s 52 and he’s more involved in the passing game. Williams is worth an add as Spencer Ware‘s backup with the chance to earn more playing time.
Next three weeks: BAL, LAC, @SEA

Other QBs to consider: Nyheim Hines (RB – IND) 26% owned, Rex Burkhead (RB – NE) 24 % owned, Chase Edmonds (RB – ARI) 1% owned, John Kelly (RB -LAR) 0% owned

Wide Receivers

Dante Pettis (WR  – SF): 3% owned
Hello young man! Pettis exploded for 128 yards and two TDs in a blowout loss to the Seahawks in Week 13. Over his last two weeks, Pettis has gained 205 yards and three trips into the end zone. Don’t let the name fool you. He’s a strong addition to a fantasy playoff contender as he leads a team in receiving that should find itself in catch-up mode frequently. He’s the best WR add of the week.
Next three weeks: DEN, SEA, CHI

Curtis Samuel (WR – CAR): 17% owned
Samuel led the Panthers with a 6-88 line on a team-leading 11 targets. He’s scored in his last two and with injuries piling up in the Carolina receiving corps, the sophomore and former Buckeye should continue to excel. Great matchups down the stretch don’t hurt either.
Next three weeks: @CLE, NO, ATL

DeVante Parker (WR – MIA): 10% owned
Parker went 4-43-1 in Week 13, and Danny Amendola may miss next week’s game. Always an up-and-down option and frequently disappointing owners, he’s a Hail Mary add ahead of the fantasy playoffs.
Next three weeks: NE, @MIN, JAX

Other WRs to consider: Jordy Nelson (WR – OAK) 30% owned, Kenny Stills (WR – MIA) 30% owned

Quarterbacks

Josh Allen (QB – BUF): 5% owned
He totaled 366 total yards in Week 13’s loss to the Dolphins, including 135 yards rushing. Allen has now rushed for 234 yards over his last two games and he has been a QB1 in both instances. With friendly matchups against the Jets, Lions and Pats on tap, the former Wyoming Cowboy should have you yelling “Yippee Ki-Yay!” as you plug him into your lineup for the fantasy playoffs.
Next three weeks: NYJ, DET, @NE

Derek Carr (QB – OAK): 18% owned
Carr looked pretty good in this one, keeping pace with the high-octane Chiefs to the tune of 285 yards and three TDs. He’s looked understandably pedestrian in three straight matchups against top-five passing defenses in the Chargers, Cardinals and Ravens over the last three weeks. Now, he has games against the Steelers, Bengals and Broncos in his next three and he should produce some good fantasy numbers, especially with no run game and while the Raiders should be chasing points. Carr could be a great addition for the final three weeks of the season.
Next three weeks: PIT, @CIN, DEN

Other QBs to consider: Case Keenum (QB – DEN): 20% owned, Ryan Tannehill (QB – MIA) 6% owned

Tight Ends

Ian Thomas (TE – CAR)0% owned
Greg Olsen left Carolina’s Week 13 matchup and finished the day on crutches. He’s now out for the season so Ian Thomas will take over. In Olsen’s absence, Thomas went 5-46. He’s capable, and Cam Newton loves his TEs.
Next three weeks: @CLE, NO, ATL

Other QBs to consider: C.J. Uzomah (TE – CIN) 26% owned, Levine Toilolo (TE – DET) 0% owned

D/STs

New York Giants: 9% owned
Next three weeks: @WAS, TEN, @IND

Tennessee Titans47% owned
Next three weeks: JAX, @NYG, WAS
