There are six games on tap for Wednesday as we grind through the final days of the regular season. The Eastern Conference is almost set in terms of who has locked up a playoff spot, with the Pistons clinging to faint hopes for the final spot over the Bucks. Seeding is still up for grabs and there’s a crucial game between the Celtics and Raptors tonight that impacts that number one seed. In the Western Conference, things are a bit more jumbled, with seven teams still vying for the final five spots. Things always change throughout the day in the NBA in terms of injury or rest news, but that is amplified many times as we get this close to the end of the season. Be sure to check the news as the day unfolds as these suggestions could be altered significantly.
Looking at the rest situation, the Mavericks, Magic, Sixers, Hawks, Spurs, and Lakers are all playing their third game in four nights, with tonight also being a back-to-back set. The Heat, Celtics, and Raptors all played last night as well. The remaining three teams are all coming off of two days’ worth of rest. Let’s take a look at a tournament lineup for FanDuel.

Point Guard
Dejounte Murray (SA): $6,600 @ LAL
The Spurs are fighting to remain in the thick of the Western Conference playoffs, so it should be all hands on deck tonight against the Lakers. This is an elite individual matchup for Murray as well as a boost in terms of pace. The key to Murray’s value lies in his ability to score as he typically provides plenty of counting statistics. I like his chances to do a little bit of everything in a prime matchup against the Lakers.

J.J. Barea (DAL): $5,200 @ ORL
Dennis Smith Jr. has been ruled out for tonight’s game, so I expect a combination of Barea, Yogi Ferrell, and Aaron Harrison to help shoulder the load in the backcourt. Barea is averaging right at one FDP/minute on the season, so if we project him for close to 30 minutes of playing time, he should have no issues exceeding his current value threshold.
Other Notables
Shooting Guard
DeMar DeRozan (TOR): $7,900 vs. BOS
The Raptors are floundering to close out the regular season and are now in danger of surrendering the top seed in the Eastern Conference. Tonight’s game is a crucial showdown against the team nipping at their heels, so it should be all systems go for DeRozan and the Raptors. This isn’t the best individual matchup, but the position lacks a ton of compelling depth, so it makes sense to pay up here this evening.
Ben McLemore (MEM): $3,800 @ NO
The Grizzlies will be without Andrew Harrison, Tyreke Evans and Wayne Selden tonight, which should translate to extra run for McLemore. The Kansas alum is volatile from a fantasy perspective as he relies on scoring for value, but he can fill up the points in a hurry. The expected bump in volume only enhances his chances at a decent outing, especially with a big boost in pace on deck.
Other Notables
Small Forward
Robert Covington (PHI): $6,000 @ DET
With Joel Embiid on the shelf, Covington should continue to see an uptick in usage. While there’s likely going to be efficiency concerns, the volume helps to offset a lot of those concerns. Covington has scored at least 32 FDP in five out of the last six games, which includes 42+ FDP in each of the last two. This is a plus matchup against the Pistons and with both teams still playing for something (albeit faint for the Pistons), Covington should be a lock for 30 minutes of playing time.
MarShon Brooks (MEM): $3,900 @ NO
Brooks is uncertain to play with an ankle injury, but he’d be a fine source of salary relief for an injury-depleted Memphis squad. As I noted earlier, this is a boost in pace for the Grizzlies so there should be a few extra possessions to go around. Provided Brooks is in the lineup, he’d be a decent value this evening.
Other Notables
Power Forward
Anthony Davis (NO): $12,300 vs. MEM
The Pelicans are currently clinging to the eighth seed in the Western Conference, so I’d expect Davis to get all the minutes and usage he can handle. There’s always injury risk involved with Davis, but with the Pelicans desperate for wins and Davis possessing mammoth upside, the risk is certainly worth the reward.
Jarell Martin (MEM): $4,100 @ NO
Martin rounds out the trio of cheap Grizzlies tonight. While he doesn’t carry a ton of upside, the salary relief is very meaningful when constructing rosters. He’s played at least 29 minutes in each of the last six games, and while Martin’s production has been all over the place, it’s tough to argue with the playing time. Martin needs 21 FDP to hit value at this price, which he’s hit in two out of his last six games. While there’s risk involved here, that volatility is worth embracing in tournaments this evening.
Other Notables
Center
Andre Drummond (DET): $10,000 vs. PHI
Drummond played just 24 minutes on Sunday due to an ejection, but he still produced 30.3 FDP in limited action. The Pistons are still mathematically in the hunt for the last spot in the Eastern Conference playoff race, so I’d expect the big man to play all the minutes he can handle. The matchup is a good one against the Sixers, especially with Joel Embiid out, so I expect a monster fantasy line from Drummond tonight.
