Does everyone still have their New Year’s resolution in place after the first day of the year? If your resolution was to play more NBA DFS then you have come to the right place as I set the table for Tuesday’s five-game slate. I was okay with fading the one high-priced stud on Monday’s slate (Giannis Antetokounmpo) but I don’t think it would be wise to fade Tuesday’s only high-priced stud (LeBron James).
Note that some of the stats referenced in this article are my custom DvP calculations that combine both season and last five games data along with blending similar positions production allowed together.

LeBron James (SF/PF – CLE): $11,700 vs POR
LeBron James and the Cavaliers are expected to welcome Isaiah Thomas to the court for the first time on Tuesday against the Blazers. While Thomas’ return could have some long-term effects on James fantasy production, I don’t expect that effect to come tonight with Thomas on a minutes’ restriction while coming off the bench. The Blazers have given up the second most DraftKings points to opposing PFs this season (middle of the pack against SFs). Last season at home against the Blazers, James put up a triple-double with 31 points, 10 rebounds and 13 assists.

Core Plays
Tyreke Evans (PG/SG – MEM): $8,200 @ LAC
Ever since Mike Conley went down with an injury, Tyreke Evans has stepped up to be the leader of the Grizzlies offense. He is on a great run right now with six straight games of at least 22 points while adding 6.3 rebounds, 7.0 assists and 1.2 steals per game during that stretch. The Clippers have allowed increase production in points (+5.2%), rebounds (+12.6%) and assists (+14.3%) to opposing SGs.
Dennis Schroder (PG – ATL): $7,300 @ PHO
Dennis Schroder offers the perfect balance of a high floor with upside that you want in both Cash and GPP lineups. He has topped 36 DK points in six of his last seven games which is 5x his current salary. Meanwhile, Schroder has exceeded 47 DK points twice during that stretch showing off his high ceiling. I’m expecting another “ceiling” game on Tuesday against a Suns’ defense that has allowed the fifth most DK points to opposing PGs this season.
Dwight Howard (C – CHA): $7,400 @ SAC
Dwight Howard has been a double-double machine this season with 20 double-doubles in 36 games. With limited high-end center options on the slate, I’d recommend either paying up for Howard or dropping way down to one of the center eligible value options below. Howard faces a middle-of-the-pack Kings defense against centers which should allow him to exceed value has he has accomplished in three of his last four games and of course get the double-double bonus.
Taurean Prince (SG/SF – ATL): $5,500 @ PHO
Taurean Price has been a little erratic as you would expect a young player to be in just his second season. However, he has flashed huge upside including a 30-point, 10-rebound two games ago against the Raptors. He has been crashing the boards lately with at least nine in each of his last three games and could post another solid 20/10 performance against a Suns’ team that has allowed increased production in points (+11.7%) and rebounds (+1.5%) to SFs.
Value Plays
John Collins (PF/C – ATL): $4,900 @ PHO
Sticking with the Hawks, rookie John Collins has been very consistent averaging 24.9 DK points per game this season and 26.7 DK points per game over the last five games. He will face a Suns’ team that has allowed the fourth most DK points to opposing PFs this season (sixth-most to centers). He might not have the upside for a GPP lineup but he has a solid floor worthy of Cash game consideration.
Marquese Chriss (PF/C – PHO): $4,600 vs ATL
Marquese Chriss has finally seen his minutes spike into the 20s over the last four games and he has produced with the increased playing time. Over his last four games, he has stuffed the stat sheet with 11.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.0 steals, 1.8 blocks and 1.5 three-pointers per game. Chriss will look to continue his recent playing time and strong play against the Hawks who have allowed the seventh most DK points to opposing PFs this season.
Frank Kaminsky (PF/C – CHA): $4,300 @ SAC
To round out the value big men to consider on Tuesday, we have Frank “the Tank” Kaminsky who could be a solid pivot from his teammate Dwight Howard at the center position if you need some salary savings. Kaminsky has topped 23 DK points in four of his last five games while posting at least 14 points in those four games. He will face a Kings’ defense that has allowed increased production across the board to opposing PFs and Kaminsky should be able to use his all-around game to exploit the matchup.
Marco Belinelli (SG – ATL): $3,800 @ PHO
Finding really cheap value on the Tuesday slate is difficult but Marco Belinelli’s name popped off the page when doing my research. The Suns have allowed the fifth most DK points to opposing SGs this season including most of the damage being done in the points column which is where Belinelli generates most of his fantasy production. Belinelli is also hot right now shooting over 50% from the field and three-point range over his last three games.
