We have an eight-game slate to kick off our NBA week, and there are great options across the board. We are about halfway through the NBA season, and there are a ton of injuries going around. This has resulted in a number of high-priced players who are listed as questionable, or game-time decisions, so you have to be ready to pivot if new information breaks before rosters lock.

Guards
Kyle Lowry (TOR): $7,600 @ BKN
Lowry is up against the Brooklyn Nets tonight, who are fourth worst in the league against point guards, putting Lowry in a great spot. The Nets play at a very fast pace and are weak defensively, so anytime they are on the slate you want to roster players against them. In the one game Lowry has played against the Nets this season, he put up 53.5 DraftKings points in just 30 minutes. That is well over one fantasy point per minute and clearly this is a very favorable matchup for him. Lowry has a 22.7% usage rate and is averaging 1.12 fantasy points per minute.
Victor Oladipo (IND): $8,600 vs. MIL
Oladipo is back from his injury, and in his first game he put up 54.5 DraftKings points in just 24 minutes. According to reports, he will have no minutes restrictions and will be good to go moving forward. Before his injury, Oladipo was priced up at $9,600 on December 23rd. His price has dropped $1K, so we want to buy in on him when he is lower priced than he really should be. Oladipo has a 32.8% usage rate and is averaging 1.28 fantasy points per minute. This game has a total set at 214 points, which means we should be seeing plenty of points going around, putting Oladipo in a great spot.

Forwards
Denzel Valentine (CHI): $4,600 vs. HOU
Valentine has scored 27 DraftKings points or more in three of his last four games and is still under $5K. Tonight he is up against the Rockets, who are giving up 43 DraftKings points per game to small forwards which is dead last in the league. This is the spot where you want to roster Valentine since he has shown upside in his recent games and has a favorable opponent. This game has an over-under set at 222 points, making it one of the higher games on the slate. Doing a bit of a game stack for this is an option, and Valentine makes a strong play. He only has a 16% usage rate but is averaging 0.80 fantasy points per minute. He isn’t expensive and has shown the upside to warrant a roster spot.
Kevin Love (CLE): $7,500 @ MIN
Love is up against his former team tonight, so if you like a good revenge narrative then this is the spot for you. This game has an over-under of 219 points, with the Cavaliers only favored by one point. This means we should be set for a high-scoring, close game which is great for DFS purposes. Love has a 28% usage rate and is averaging 1.25 fantasy points per minute making him great for cash games but also good for tournaments since he can shoot the three ball. His price has dropped over $1K since January 2nd, so he’s yet another player you want to roster before his price rises.
Centers
DeAndre Jordan (LAC): $7,800 @ ATL
Jordan is a double-double machine and has put up seven of them over his last 10 games. He makes a great cash game play tonight and is in a spot to see a bit more usage now that Blake Griffin is out. Griffin suffered an injury in their last game and has been ruled out for tonight’s game. This means a few extra touches for Jordan which should help him reach value. He is up against the Hawks who are giving up 54 DraftKings points per game to centers which is fourth worst in the league. Jordan can also be used in tournaments since he has upside from rebounds which he gets in bunches.
Eric Moreland (DET): $3,000 @ NO
Moreland makes a bit of a punt play tonight, but only if Andre Drummond is out as he missed their most recent game. In that game that Drummond was out, Moreland played 36 minutes and put up 29 DraftKings points which is fantastic production for a player at his salary. Speaking of his salary, he is the absolute lowest price you can get on a player which means the salary relief can benefit your entire roster. Be sure to check your sources on Twitter to see if Drummond is playing. If he is, Moreland is not a viable option.
