Point Guards
Russell Westbrook (OKC): $10,500 at DEN
Westbrook slides in as the fifth most expensive player of the night, which usually isn’t the case. It’s tough to call a player at $10,000 plus a value play but he’s got the potential for a triple-double every night. It just so happens that he plays the Nuggets, who allow the second most fantasy points to opposing point guards. Westbrook is averaging about 20 points, 10 assists and nine rebounds per game which equates to around 45 fantasy points per game. PLAY YOUR STUDS!
TJ McConnell (PHI): $5,400 at SAC
With both Jerryd Bayless and Markelle Fultz out with injuries, McConnell is the next man up. Yes, I know he didn’t start the last game for Bayless as Dario Saric did. However, McConnell still played 30 minutes and will also get Joel Embiid back in this game so there should be plenty of assist opportunities with the second unit.
Shooting Guards
James Harden (HOU): $11,200 at CLE
It’s a tough choice choosing between James Harden and LeBron James in tonight’s projected highest scoring game of the night but I’m rolling with Harden who continues to lead the Rockets without Chris Paul. Harden is now up to 29.5 points per game after his career-high 56 points against the tough defensive Jazz squad. Harden is also posting the third most assists in the NBA with 9.7 per game just above opponents LeBron James‘ 9.1 assists per game.
JJ Redick (PHI): $4,900 at SAC
Redick was one of the more under-the-radar offseason acquisitions but one of the smartest moves for a team who desperately needed someone who can knock down the three-ball. Redick draws a solid matchup against the Kings who allow the fifth most fantasy points to opposing shooting guards. Redick is also averaging 25.5 points per game over his last two so continue to ride the hot hand.
Small Forwards
Kelly Oubre (WSH): $4,000 vs. LAL
Oubre has certainly earned a role even with the starting five of the Wizards finally healthy and off suspension including Markieff Morris, Porter, and John Wall. Oubre has still played 25 minutes per game over the past two while averaging 9.5 points and six rebounds per game. It’s a plus matchup against the Lakers so he’s a solid value play.
Wilson Chandler (DEN): $4,300 vs. OKC
Chandler is coming off a solid performance in his previous game against the Nets posting nine points and 10 rebounds. I’m hoping this game was a turn around game for Chandler whose not been that productive this season averaging only 8.1 points and 4.2 rebounds per game with Paul Millsap now in Denver. I’m rolling with this value play as this is a potential shootout.
Power Forwards
Paul Millsap (DEN): $7,200 vs. OKC
Millsap has been up-and-down this season with two games of 20 plus points including a season-high 27 points recently against the Heat and three games of less than 10 points including against the Warriors on Sunday in only 15 minutes of action due to game-flow. Look for Millsap to be solid in this game and his price tag isn’t too steep.
Serge Ibaka (TOR): $5,000 vs. NO
Ibaka is slowly coming back into his own after missing a game with a knee injury averaging 27 minutes over his past three games while averaging 11 points per game and about six rebounds per game. Ibaka and Jonas Valanciunas will have their hands full with Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins but the Raptors need Ibaka to play well if they want to slow down those bigs.
Center
Kevin Love (CLE): $7,300 at HOU
Love rounds out my starting lineup as one of the better options in projected cost per point. Love is also coming off his best game of the season with 32 points and 16 rebounds against the Bucks while Tristan Thompson is still out. It’s going to be all James and Love against the Rockets so it makes sense to get Love into your lineup.
