There are 10 games on the FanDuel main slate tonight with a lot of fantasy goodness to be had. Russell Westbrook, Lebron, Steph, Kevin Durant, James Harden, Karl-Anthony Towns are just some of the high priced studs that you will want to be considering. The Cavs-Nets (228) and Lakers-Wizards (227.5) games are projected to be the highest scoring games of the night (there was no line on the Warriors-Raptors at the time of writing this article).
It is still very early in the NBA season and so there is a limited sample size to go on when looking for value plays but here are 9 plays that are worth considering as you set your lineup for tonight’s slate of games. You will need to free up some salary if you are going to fit one or two of the high-priced players into your lineup tonight. Remember to check the news and injury reports, especially in the 30 minutes prior to lock. Use all the information available to you to make the best decision possible for your lineup. Good luck and have fun!

Point Guard
Delon Wright (TOR): $4,500 at GSW
The point guard position is not really where you want to find value as that is where your fantasy production is often located. Wright is interesting because he has earned 25+ FD pts in two of his three games. He is the primary backup to Kyle Lowry and might see extended time if the other backup Fred VanVleet remains out with a concussion. He is a talented player that should see even more time on the road against the explosive world champions.
Mike James (PHO): $4,300 vs. UTA
It is always scary playing anyone against the Jazz because they are so good defensively and their games tend to be a pace-down situation. However, if you want to get a piece of the craziness that is the Phoenix Suns and you insist on playing a value point guard, then James might be an option as he has been running good as of late. He has had 26.9 and 23.6 FD points in his last two games. If he can continue this, then you’d hit 5-6x value.
Shooting Guard
Norman Powell (TOR): $4,500 at GSW
He is an extremely talented player in a new role with the Raptors. He is a full-time starter. Last year, he performed very well when he started. He has not necessarily gotten a lot of minutes but he is capable of exploding. Even though he hasn’t had a big game yet, he has still hit 5X value in two of the Raptors three games (the last coming in a pace-down situation against the Spurs). There is no such thing as a safe play in DFS, but he is a very good value option.
Wayne Ellington (MIA): $3,400 vs. SAS
If you have played DFS in the past, then you know that Ellington can get really hot and put up some nice scoring numbers. His price is really low and if you subscribe to the hot hand theory then he is worth a look. He scored 20 real-life points in only 24 minutes in his last game against Atlanta. Those 27.4 FD points would be worth 8X salary tonight. Not a bad route to take, especially in GPPs.
Small Forward
James Ennis III (MEM): $4,300 at DAL
Ennis has been starting for the Grizzlies and has started to contribute more than just on the defensive side of the ball. He has earned 28.7 and 25.3 FD points in his last two games. This should be a slower paced game but at this price, he seems to have a good chance to hit value.
CJ Miles (TOR): $3,500 at GSW
Miles is your prototypical GPP play since he is a volume scorer off the bench. He can really light it up when he gets going. He scored 22 points in 20 minutes in the first game of the year, when he hit six 3-pointers. His last two games have not been as good. There is also the chance that Miles sees extended time in this pace-up game at Golden State.
Power Forward
Kyle Kuzma (LAL): $5,100 vs. WAS
The Lakers really like this rookie and he has been performing very well early on. His minutes and production have increased in every game he has played. In his very last game he earned 31.2 FD points. His price is a little higher than I’d like considering the Lakers still have a lot of players that could put up fantasy production, but he is definitely a consideration in this game against the Wizards that should be higher scoring.
Johnny O’Bryant III (CHA): $3,500 vs. DEN
This is a GPP play because O’Bryant doesn’t get much time off the bench. However, despite only getting 27 total minutes in the last two games, he has earned 20.8 and 20.7 FD points. This is not a play that you are going to feel comfortable making but if you have to punt at a spot, you might as well do it with a guy hitting value the last couple of games.
Center
Jakob Poeltl (TOR): $4,900 at GSW
Jonas Valanciunas has been ruled out for tonight’s game so Poeltl should continue to see increased minutes. In the last two games, he has only averaged 20.5 MPG but has earned 34.4 and 30.0 FD points. This is certainly the kind of production that you can live with. In fact, if Lucas Nogueira is also ruled out then you can fire Poeltl up with confidence considering he should gobble up most of the center minutes.
Ian Mahinmi (WAS): $3,500 at LAL
This is strictly a punt play if you need a near minimum salaried player in your lineup. He has earned 14.6, 14.6 and 14.3 FD points in his three games this year. At $3,500, this is close to 5X value. The most minutes he has played this year is 18 so he is not getting much volume. I really like some of the higher end centers (or Poeltl) tonight, but Mahinmi will do if you are okay with punting the position. You could do worse with your punts.
