Today, we’ve got a smaller 7-game slate, but there are some stars to work with from Russell Westbrook and James Harden to Kevin Durant and Karl-Anthony Towns. There aren’t enough safe value plays, however, to be able to justify squeezing two of these guys into our lineups. Let’s take a look at how it all comes together.

Point Guard
Spencer Dinwiddie (BRK): $5,000 @ NYK
With De’Angelo Russell expected to miss this evening’s game too. That means Dinwiddie will get another crack at starting. He performed admirably with the opportunity Wednesday, posting 38 FanDuel points in 31 minutes against the Cavs. Expect more of the same tonight in what should be a high-scoring, close-fought game at The Garden.

Delon Wright (TOR): $4,400 @ LAL
I’d love to spend up on Russell Westbrook tonight or get Ramon Sessions into my lineup, but there just isn’t enough safety at other positions so we’ve got to fall back on Wright, who is among my favorite game-to-game players in the NBA. His path to potential stardom is clogged up by Kyle Lowry, but the Raptors have been finding a way to get him 25+ minutes per game off the bench and what he has done is post over 21 FD points per game. The Lakers’ guards don’t do much in the way of defense, so he seems like a safe bet to reach 20+ once again.
Shooting Guard
Eric Gordon (HOU): $7,100 @ CHA
Please try to not overthink this one too much. Since Chris Paul went out with his injury, Gordon has posted 28 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists per game. He is a volume scorer and is playing with confidence right now. Add in the fact that the Hornets are struggling against shooting guards this season and Gordon might just be the lock of the night.
Kent Bazemore (ATL): $5,500 vs DEN
You will find Bazemore in the majority of my cash game lineups all season, same as last year. The position as a whole is extremely volatile based on hot/cold shooting nights. That isn’t the case with Bazemore, who scores fantasy points all kinds of ways. Tonight, on top of his usual rebounds, assists and steals, Bazemore could lead the team in points, as Dennis Schroder is dealing with an ankle injury.
Small Forward
Kevin Durant (GS): $10,100 vs WAS
Let me be clear: Durant is not the star in the best position tonight. James Harden has a better matchup on paper and Kristaps Porzingas could explode on the Nets, but Durant is far and away the safest at his price-point. Plus, the position is barren with value tonight, so if you are going to spend up, I recommend doing it here so you aren’t stuck with an ill Jimmy Butler or a Paul George coming off a terrible game, or Evan Fournier against the Spurs.
Rudy Gay (SA): $5,500 @ ORL
Gay is much like Bazemore to me. I use him most nights almost regardless of the matchup. He isn’t ever going to smash 8x value, but he always hits 4x value, and is usually above 5x value. This season, he is being limited to 23 minutes per game, but he is scoring a ton off the bench and continuing to compile FanDuel points every which way, as he has done throughout his career.
Power Forward
LaMarcus Aldridge (SA): $9,000 @ ORL
Herein lies the top play of the night. His ownership might not be there, but I’m all aboard the Aldridge is a superstar train. The Spurs have 100% let him loose this year and he is going nuts. 26 points per game, 8.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists and multiple blocks and steals per contest. Tonight, the Magic should keep the game close enough in Orlando that LaMarcus gets another 35+ minutes against a defense who is weak against scoring bigs.
Frank Kaminsky (CHA): $5,400 vs HOU
At the start of the season, his price was near the site-minimum. Although it has risen considerably, Kaminsky is still a solid play each night. His salary demands just over 30 FanDuel points to hit value, and seeing that he has accomplished that in two of his last three games, you ought to expect more of the same against a Rockets’ defense who has been torched by the position this year. When Cody Zeller returns to the lineup, things will change, but until then, keep plugging Frank into your entries.
Center
Dwight Howard (CHA): $7,900 vs HOU
The veteran has seemingly morphed into a steady fantasy option each game, with 35+ points every night of the season so far. For whatever reason, Dwight decided to go back to hitting the boards hard, and we’ve seen 17.8 per game as a result. Until that slows down, I see no reason to avoid him in cash games, and especially not against his old Rockets’ team this evening.
