FanDuel NBA Lineup Advice: Tuesday (1/31)

FanDuel NBA Lineup Advice: Tuesday (1/31)
Kyle Lowry

Kyle Lowry has posted at least 44 FDP in each of his last three games

Tuesday night features a solid six-game slate of NBA action that features only one team playing the second game of a back-to-back (Kings) and all six games with a Vegas total of 211 or higher. Unfortunately, it is a little difficult to find cheap value option on the slate which makes it difficult to pay up for the high-priced superstars such as Russell Westbrook, James Harden, Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins. So a more balanced lineup might be the way to go unless some cheap value opens up as the day progresses.

My lineup recommendations each Tuesday will be focused on cash games (50/50, Head-to-Head, Double Ups) but can also be used in GPP tournaments.

You will notice that I reference some of my own custom stats in my NBA DFS articles that I use to help determine my favorite plays. I don’t use the common Defense versus Position (DvP) numbers that most use. Instead, I calculate blended percentages for each stat category (points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks) that take into account team stats for the season and last five games, as well as a weighted average between similar positions. For example, my shooting guard DvP numbers are a blended between point guard (10%), shooting guard (70%) and small forward (20%) stats for each category.

Point Guard

Kyle Lowry (TOR): $8,700 vs NO
Lowry has put up at least 44 FanDuel points in each of his last three games, including on Sunday in a game that DeMar DeRozan returned to the lineup. Look for Lowry to continue to lead the Raptors’ offense in a favorable matchup at home against the Pelicans who are giving up increased production in points (+6.4%), assists (+3.1%) and steals (+5.8%) to opposing PG.

Jameer Nelson (DEN): $5,100 @ LAL
My recommendation of Nelson hinges on Emmanuel Mudiay missing his fifth straight game with a back injury. Mudiay did join the Nuggets in Los Angeles but is still questionable for their game. Nelson has filled in very well as the starting PG with Mudiay out averaging 31.2 FanDuel points over his last three games. In addition, Nelson has a plus matchup against a Lakers’ team that has allowed above average production in points, rebounds, assists and steals to opposing PG.

Others Options:

Shooting Guard

C.J. McCollum (POR): $7,900 vs CHA
Shooting guard is a position to consider paying down even more than the $7,900 for McCollum. There are other enticing options such as Garry Harris, Lou Williams and even Courtney Lee who could be in play. That said, McCollum does offer a nice floor of around 30 FanDuel points with the upside to go for 50 in what should be a close game against the Hornets.

Victor Oladipo (OKC): $6,000 @ SA
Oladipo has been incredibly consistent lately scoring between 28 and 34 FanDuel points in each of his last five games which would put him right at 5x his salary. Some might be scared away from Oladipo on Tuesday since the Thunder are facing the Spurs, but San Antonio has been an average matchup for opposing SG this season.

Other Options:

Small Forward

Danilo Gallinari (DEN): $7,000 @ LAL
With Nikola Jokic out of the lineup for the Nuggets, other players such as Gallinari will see increased usage and production. Gallinari put up 42.1 FanDuel points on Saturday in a game without Jokic and should flourish again on Tuesday without Jokic against the Lakers. The Lakers have allowed increased production to opposing SF in points (+7.3%) which is the main way that Gallinari generates his fantasy production.

Otto Porter (WAS): $6,600 vs NY
Porter has faced the Knicks twice this season and has posted 36.1 and 34 FanDuel points respectively. He will get his third crack at the Knicks on Tuesday night and should continue to produce a solid stat line. New York has allowed increased production in points and rebounds to opposing SF.

Other Options:

Power Forward

Markieff Morris (WAS): $6,900 vs NY
Morris continues to play big minutes for the Wizards, topping 33 minutes in seven of his last eight games. His minutes has led to fantasy production averaging 35.5 FanDuel points during that span. Morris should be able to produce another quality game against the Knicks who have allowed an increase of 4.1% points to opposing PF.

Kenneth Faried (DEN): $6,600 @ LAL
Faried is another Nuggets player that will take advantage of increased playing time and production with Jokic out of the lineup. Faried went for 21 points and 13 rebounds (47.6 FanDuel points) over 37 minutes in his last game without Jokic and should see similar playing time again on Tuesday against the Lakers. Note that Faried is listed as probable with a tight hamstring so monitor the news leading up to lineup lock for any further information, but as of now he is expected to play.

Other Options:

Center

Spencer Hawes (CHA): $4,900 @ POR
With Cody Zeller considered doubtful to play on Tuesday against the Blazers, Hawes should once again be the primary beneficiary down low for the Hornets. Hawes’ fantasy production has been a little up-and-down over the last three games with Zeller out, but he could be in line for his biggest output on Tuesday against the Trail Blazers who have been getting dominated by opposing centers allowing increased production in points (+10.2%), rebounds (+6.6%) and blocks (+21.3%).
