This is it, folks. We are down to the final week of season-long leagues for most fantasy footballers and I hope that you’ve made it this far with a fantasy championship in sight. It can be a tough season when the injury bug hits, but fortunately, the waiver wire has churned out quite a few productive players this year.

So as we’ve done all season long, we reached out to our featured pundits below to get the waiver wire advice you’re looking for to put your team in the best position possible. Please keep in mind, the players ranked below all have under 50% ownership. If you’d like to get more tailored advice, you can always take advantage of our premium waiver wire assistant.

Q1. Give us your thoughts on a waiver wire target (or two) you especially like as a pickup.

“This week is all about exploiting matchups. You don’t care about future value, its one week, win or lose. This leads me directly to Dontrelle Inman. He gets to go against the Browns, who rank near the bottom in every defensive category. He also has become more and more of a favorite for Philip Rivers, leading the team in targets over the last few weeks. I see no reason why he can’t succeed in your championship week.”
Joe Bond (Fantasy Six Pack)

“There isn’t much left on the waiver wire this time of year, but if you’re in need of help at wide receiver Dontrelle Inman has emerged as a solid option in San Diego and is averaging five receptions per game since Week 9. J.J. Nelson and Tyler Lockett have tougher matchups, but both can give you week-winning upside if they hit. At running back, Paul Perkins has outplayed Rashad Jennings recently, so there’s some hope the Giants may give the rookie more work on a short week. ”
Justin Boone (theScore)

“If you need one pickup this week, I’d point you in the direction of Dontrelle Inman of the Chargers. Look, you could make a case for Robby Anderson on volume and talent, but the Week 16 matchup difference between the two is substantial enough to make up the difference. Inman draws the Browns while Anderson gets the Patriots, who will surely recognize him as Petty’s favorite target which means Bill Belichick will throw everything at stopping him. Inman has been getting plenty of targets himself and should help immensely.”
Bobby Sylvester (FantasyPros)

“Not much to love on waivers this week, but my favorite is probably Ryan Griffin. Houston has targeted the TE position liberally this season, and as long as Fiedorowicz remains out in week 16, we should see another 6+ targets for Griffin with a solid shot at the end zone.”
KJ (Fantasy Team Advice)

Justin Forsett is the RB that should be targeted in PPR leagues as he will draw roughly a dozen carries a week, has TD upside, and will be given three to five targets from his QB. He is readily available on most waiver wires and at the least is worth grabbing at this point.”

Q2. For owners renting a D/ST in Week 16, what readily available option should they target and why?

“When you make it to the fantasy championship it’s easy to overthink every decision, so if you’re looking for a defense this week keep it simple and grab the San Diego Chargers against the Browns. San Diego has forced at least one turnover in every game this season and they’ll be up against a Cleveland team giving up an average of five sacks per game over its last six outings.”
Justin Boone (theScore)

San Diego Chargers. Because they play the Browns. Cleveland fails to generate much offense through the air or on the ground with Robert Griffin III at the helm, and the Chargers have recorded at least 1 sack and 1 INT in 4 straight weeks.”
KJ (Fantasy Team Advice)

San Diego is up against Cleveland next week and should have no problem obtaining sacks, interceptions, and forcing fumbles. For the most part, anytime you see a team going up against Cleveland they are worth targeting if the team is on your waiver wire. ”
James Hatfield (Hatty Waiver Wire Guru)

“I’m going to pick on the Browns one more time here and go with San Diego as my main defense to stream/rent. The return of RG3 does nothing to make them a better offensive team. Not to mention the Chargers have quietly been a top-12 defense all season long for fantasy. Get them, use them, feel good about your defense heading into Week 16. Bonus: If the Chargers are not there, look for the 49ers facing the Rams who look completely lost on offense at the moment.”
Joe Bond (Fantasy Six Pack)

“With the season on the line and an inept Vikings’ offense coming to town, I’m all over the Green Bay Packers‘ secondary this week. Damarious Randall is back in action which has helped their secondary more than you can quantify. The Vikings’ offensive line is horrid so you can bet Green Bay will be getting after Sam Bradford which is typically a recipe for turnovers and the shot at that glorious DST touchdown.”
