Grading the AFC South
Winners: Jacksonville Jaguars, Tennessee Titans
Losers: None
Houston Texans
Immediate Needs – C / TE
Long Term Needs – DT / SS / DE / WR
Depth Possibilities – OG / ILB
Anybody who had ears last season heard Deandre Hopkins complaining about being double teamed all the time. Will Fuller is a deep threat receiver who will make Hopkins feel like he won the lottery. Then, they added a top interior lineman in Nick Martin, who was a fringe round one talent that they got in round two. This would have been good enough, but they added another good value pick with receiver, Braxton Miller, in round three, who although he doesn’t satisfy their necessity for a tight end, he will provide a third explosive target for new quarterback, Brock Osweiler. Their fourth round pick, running back, Tyler Ervin, is a flash weapon, and will provide another layer for an offense that is set to take the next step.

FantasyPros draft grade: B-
Tennessee Titans
Immediate Needs – RT / CB
Long Term Needs – LG / FS / NT
Depth Possibilities – LB / WR
Second only to the Browns, the Titans had the best draft on paper. They traded back to get more picks, and then traded back up to get the offensive tackle they could have taken anyway, in Jack Conklin. There were a few picks that people might question, like Derrick Henry in the second when the team just brought in DeMarco Murray. However, this real football and not fantasy, and having two punishing runners on the roster will help both of their careers as well as giving the Titans a good grind-it-out run game. Their picks of Kevin Byard in the third and LeShaun Sims in the fifth are good high-ceiling tickets to keep up in a division that is starting to have a lot of aerial weapons.
FantasyPros draft grade: A-
Indianapolis Colts
Immediate Needs– OLB / G
Long Term Needs – C
Depth Possibilities – CB / ILB / NT
Interior lineman, Ryan Kelly, is the start to rebuilding the offensive line for the Colts, along with Le’Raven Clark in the third round. Both players are solid and will compete immediately, and will upgrade the offense and protect Andrew Luck. On the other side of the ball, they addressed the few needs they had with the very athletic safety JT.J. Green from Clemson, and a good value pick in defensive tackle, Hassan Ridgeway, from Texas. All in all, the Colts early picks are both safe and high enough in ceiling to give them a good grade.
FantasyPros draft grade: B
Jacksonville Jaguars
Immediate Needs – DE / OLB / C
Long Term Needs – ILB / CB / DT
Depth Possibilities – SS / FS
Although defensive back isn’t at the top of the Jaguars’ needs list, Jalen Ramsey is a unique talent. What is near the top of their list is linebacker, and they got what is a top 10 talent in Myles Jack in the second round. Other linemen like Yannick Ngakoue, Sheldon Day and Jonathan Woodard should give the Jags the depth they need on the defensive line. I can’t find a single thing that I would have done differently in addressing their needs better than what was done in this draft.
