Todd Gurley II

Todd Gurley still getting comfortable with Rams offense

by Eric Snyder | Sat, Oct 3rd 9:36pm EDT

Rams RB Todd Gurley made his much anticipated NFL debut against Pittsburgh last week, carrying the ball six times for nine yards. Expectations for Gurley in that game had to be tempered, as he is still only 10 months removed from ACL surgery. While obvious jitters and rust attributed to the pedestrian stat line, unfamiliarity with the offense played a part as well. In talking about the Rams' zone-blocking scheme, Gurley said, "…(it's) definitely new to me, but it's no excuse. It takes repetitions, looking at other team's outside zones and learning from that, watching film with the O-line. We'll get it down." (NFL.com)

Fantasy Impact:

Gurley possesses a rare blend of speed, power, and shiftiness that is not often seen in most backs. His comfort level within the Rams offense should only grow each week, and his role as the focal point should grow as well. Gurley is an RB3/FLEX option against Arizona for owners hoping for his first TD, but sooner than later, he should be firmly on the weekly RB2 radar.
