Martin Perez solid against Nats for a Win

by Chase Davis | Pirates Correspondent | Fri, Apr 5th 10:58am EDT

Martin Perez pitched 6.2 innings, giving up two earned runs on six hits and six strikeouts to two walks helping the Pittsburgh Pirates to a 7-4 victory over the Washington Nationals.

Fantasy Impact:

This performance not only secured his first win of the season but also the first quality start for Perez with the Pirates. Despite giving up only three earned runs in his first 11 innings, Perez has allowed 17 baserunners via hit or walk, leading to an unsightly 1.55 WHIP. He has shown fantasy relevance as recently as 2022 with the Texas Rangers, but his low strikeout-to-walk ratio and high hard-hit rate indicate some regression in run prevention is coming.
