In case you missed it, there were some pretty exciting games over the weekend. Lost in the shuffle of the refs blowing calls, coaches getting fined & Bill Belichick hunting down a ref like a man possessed is that 10 out of the 16 games were decided by one score or less (including 3 OT games). If nothing else, this NFL season is missing very little when it comes to producing excitement & riveting drama.
Speaking of excitement, our expert accuracy competition has now been running for 3 weeks and, for the 3rd week in a row, we have a new leader atop the season standings. In addition, each individual week so far has had a different expert serve up the best advice. If this holds up, we should be in store for some drama of our own as the contest continues.
Let’s take a look at the top experts from week 3 as well as how the YTD Accuracy Leaderboard is shaping up.

Nice job by Michael Pichan (RotoInfo) in earning the honor of week 3’s most accurate expert. Pichan made his mark with a number of big predictions that went against the grain. His ranking (QB #3) of the week’s top QB, Ben Roethlisberger, was higher than all but 1 other expert (out of 96) and it was 9 spots above Big Ben’s consensus ranking (QB #12). Pichan also rated surprise stud, Andy Dalton, above every single expert as his 8th ranked signal caller. On the flip side, Pichan had the guts to slot Aaron Rodgers below every other expert (QB #15). That turned out to be wise advice as Rodgers was swarmed in Seattle and didn’t even crack the week’s top 20 fantasy QBs. At RB, Pichan had the top player (Jamaal Charles) rated higher (RB #2) than the entire field. That pick was 16 spots ahead of the expert consensus. All in all, it was a week filled with big hits for the RotoInfo expert.
It was also a big week for Brad Evans (Yahoo! Sports). His 3rd place performance vaulted him up to the #1 spot in our YTD accuracy standings. Evans has been leading the charge of the RGIII bandwagon that is growing by leaps and bounds. In the 3 weeks we’ve been tracking the experts, his rankings for RGIII have been as high or higher than every other expert 99.3% of the time. Not a bad % for a player that’s the #1 fantasy QB of the season thus far. We’ll see if Evans can hold onto the top spot in the coming weeks.
We’ll be back again next week with another update on the competition. If you want to get involved and see how you stack up against the experts, be sure to play in our free Beat The Expert contest. The expert on tap this week is Chet Gresham (The Fake Football). If you can put together a better lineup than Chet, you’ll earn yourself $5. The top 100 entries also win a share of a $1,000 prize pool courtesy of our sponsor, StarStreet. Best of luck!
